Comments : My fiancée, who is a faculty member in the university's dentistry department, was interviewed for K1 visa in Ankara. The officer asked the typical questions about us, then asked her about the master degree in biotechnology, her research, and her publications. She provided an overview without going into technical details since they might be complex for a layperson. Unexpectedly, the officer requested her resume and copies of her publications, which she didn't have as they weren't required documents. Consequently, her visa wasn't granted, but the officer mentioned he would email her to send these documents ASAP. later on we recived the email and we responded to it on the interview day, December 1, 2023, but we're still stuck in administrative processing, which is both crazy and frustrating. We've reached out to the White House and our congressman, and both times, the embassy responded that it is still in administrative processing and nothing can be expedited.

For Iraqis filling out the I-129F, do not select the U.S. embassy in Iraq as it is closed and unlikely to reopen soon due to the current situation. Instead, choose another embassy. If you select Baghdad and your I-129F is approved, the National Visa Center will delay your process by 2-3 months only to inform you that the embassy is closed. I recommend choosing either Ankara or Doha, as both are well-organized. If you have any helpful information or tips, please message me.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
