So did NVC receive your case on the day you was approved or it received on the 3rd of Jan this year? Sorry to ask dear am also waiting for my nvc response it said 2 to 4 weeks from the. Day I received my noa2 jan 7th ...

Meant from the day I received mynoa2 7th Dec ... just want to know how long does it take for nvc to send welcoming letters in us embassy kenya
Tburton67 on 2024-01-04 said:
Sorry, I wasn't 100% where each date went. The I-797 notice date is 29 Nov and it says that's when it was sent to the NVC then. The notice said to expect 2 to 4 weeks and I received an email today from the NVC stating they received it. The NVC will submit the petition to the embassy in Nairobi and the notice says it will take several weeks to be transferred and then they'll reach out to me (the petitioner). With your NOA2 being received on 7 Dec, I'd think you should receive the notice from the NVC in the next 7 to 10 days based on when I received mine. Best of luck!

I am the petitioner, yes, and received an email yesterday from the NVC with the welcome letter attached. The welcome letter is addressed to my fiancée but I'm not sure if they sent it directly to her as well or not. The contents of the letter indicate that the embassy will contact me when they're ready to process the petition.

Ooh okay .that's good to know and hear ...my fiance is filling for my k2 as well I hope the give us instructions on how to go through it ... thank you so much
Tburton67 on 2024-01-04 said:
I checked with my fiancée and she didn't receive an email from the NVC, so it appears they only send it to the petitioner.
blank avatar Tep on 2024-01-05 said:
Okay thank you ...am glad you're one step ahead of me ...definitely I'll be asking you how you worked on the next step ...

When NVC sends the K1-FTP to the petitioner, the file gets to Nairobi embassy in less than a week and the case status on ceac website changes to "ready". By then the beneficiary should have filled out their DS160 & once case is "ready", they can make payments if there are available slots. Consider joining whatsapp groups for the embassy specific tips & hacks.

Yes. Start filling out the DS160
Tburton67 on 2024-01-18 said:
Thanks - I had started filling out the DS160 and will complete it while I'm visiting the next few weeks. I'll check out the WhatsApp groups as well - I haven't received anything since the K-1 FTP and also couldn't find anything on the NVC website.
blank avatar Tep on 2024-01-18 said:
Alright and how long has it been since you received the k1FTP??? ALSO what's your status now??? Because my status says in transit
blank avatar B & F on 2024-01-18 said:
I have a whatsapp group for Kenyan K1s interviewing at the Nairobi embassy. Leave me your contacts and I will chat you on whatsapp.

I received an email on the 18th stating my case is ready as well. I hadn't checked while traveling and we just saw it this morning.
blank avatar Tep on 2024-01-20 said:
Oh that's nice ...so what's the next stage?? Waiting for the package of instructions then submit ds 160 and schedule medical?...or what are supposed to do please
Tburton67 on 2024-01-20 said:
It looks like the next steps are to fill out and submit the DS-160 and get a medical examination scheduled. Once the exam is done we can schedule the interview. There are other things needed for the interview (I-134, evidence of relationship, birth certificate, etc.), but it's all detailed in the email you'll received. It was good timing for us as I arrived in Kenya on the 18th, so we'll be able to work on things together. I brought most of the documents/evidence with me, so it seems like we're in good shape. Hopefully things will come along quickly for you too : )
blank avatar Tep on 2024-01-20 said:
Sure but the problem with me is that I haven't received the package of instructions that sated it will be sent to us in 6 to 8 weeks ... I don't know whether I should proceed with submitting the ds 160 then I go for medical or just wait for the instructions my mind is in a total mess of confusion...but I would like to go with your steps please...
blank avatar B & F on 2024-01-20 said:
You don't need the Packet 3 instructions to proceed. You should first schedule an interview appointment before scheduling medical appointment. One of you shared their whatsapp number up there and I sent a message but it's still not been read. If any of you needs help with the remaining part of the process, don't hesitate to reach out

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
