Consulate Review: Bangkok, Thailand
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : January 21, 2024
Embassy Review : My wife arrived in good time, about 30 minutes before appointment time. The following is a second hand review as related from my wife. In general she said "nobody smile", everybody was not friendly. The Thai lady that she saw first was brusque. My wife had made a mistake (I missed this) and had some additional pictures taken that I did failed to review. These did not meet specification (not a white background). She was told to go (not sure if inside building or outside) and had some quickly taken that met the standard and returned to the Thai lady. My wife sat waiting with the accordion folder held in her lap. I had organized everything by number and title to the required documents. As my wife sat waiting.. the Thai lady chastised her saying her paperwork was not prepared. uhh... yes it was... anyhow.... some miscommunication and the Thai national got irritated. My wife was waiting for her to ask for each different "set" of papers and the Thai person wanted the entire stack. Anyhow....The next person was the interviewer would was a "Farang" and my wife got on just fine with her. That lady was pleasant and helpful. That final appointment face-to-face took about 5 minutes. I did make another mistake were I did not upload my wife's name change certificates. I missed this because at a final check the week before I found I had missed getting this paperwork entirely. There was a mad scramble to get the documents found and then translated. In the rush, I had missed uploading the originals and scans to the website. The embassy kept the originals and they will return them (I guess) when they send her the passport with the visa in it.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
