Petitioner did not attend the appointment, we had a completely uncomplicated case and beneficiary was approved after only a few questions.
Lima embassy uses ais.usvisa.info website for appointment scheduling which can be glitchy and there is a lot of info online about it "soft locking" users for checking for appointment availability too often, I believe this varies by country. I was told by the embassy that they release appointments weekly, petitioner checked several times a day and emailed weekly for three weeks. Beneficiary emailed and the same day an appointment slot opened up.
Expect to drop about $500+ on the medical exam. |

RFE for partial I693. We submitted the DS3025 and a letter explaining that we completed the medical exam abroad, but they RFEd this anyway. We paid $100 locally for a Civil Surgeon to sign the partial I693.
Interviewed by a very kind officer at Portland together with an interpreter. First portion of interview was asking identification questions of beneficiary. Beneficiary did not remember Zip code or her phone number, but able to answer other questions. Most of the interview were the inadmissibility questions. Last portion was asking what plans we have together, names of relatives, timeline of our relationship. Officer asked me if I had any additional document to offer and I explained we uploaded a number of new documents to the portal, she was delighted to hear this and said she wised more people would do this ahead of their interview instead of brining a bunch of documents to scan. Officer told us we were approved on the spot, made no changes to our petition. |

Adjusting from K1. My wife and I contacted an interpreter a month before our interview (Spanish) through Language Connection PDX, would definitely recommend their rates are the best we found. The interpreter was kind on time and helpful. Our interview slot was 930, however we ended up interviewing closer to 10:15.
We were all called in together. We took the oath and sat down. The officer requested identity documents which we provided both our state ID the beneficiary's passport. First questions were demographic in nature asking my wife her address full name phone number. My wife did not recall our zip code or her phone number and the officer seemed OK with this.
The next questions were directed at my wife the inadmissibility questions from the I485 this was a slog.
Finally we moved on to questions about our relationship the officer asked me my wife's parents name I could not recall her father's name and the officer seemed OK with this She asked about our timeline and indicated that either of us could answer these questions so I took the lead and spoke about a relationship and some of the trips we've taken the time we've spent together and how I proposed. The officer asked about our future plans and we explained that we were eager to get back to Peru to visit my wife's family but we also plan to take other trips.
The officer smiled thanked us and said that she would be approving our application.
The officer asked if we had any additional documents for her to upload and consider. I told the officer that I had uploaded documents to the portal prior to our interview and she was elated. She told me she wished that more people would do this.
A few days later we received our approval. I was very nervous going into it and I felt much more at ease after some casual conversation with the officer. |

Timeline Comments: 1Congratulations on the approval!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
