Comments : THE IMMIGRATION OFFICER AT THE AIRPORT FORGOT TO TAKE THE ENVELOPE THAT THE EMBASSY GAVE TO MY WIFE. FORTUNATELY WE WERE ABLE TO GO BACK AND GIVE IT TO HIM. DON'T FORGET TO GIVE THEM YOUR ENVELOPE. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO FORWARD IT TO USCIS.

Consulate Review: Tokyo, Japan
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 2, 2008
Embassy Review : Interview process was very easy. 2 1/2 hours total time at the Tokyo Embassy. 5 minute interview. They told us that she was approved at the end of the interview. They told us we would get the Visa in the mail within a week. We told them that we had scheduled our flights back to the U.S. on Tuesday (in one week). They told us not to worry, we should get it by then. We waited 6 days and by monday we didn't recieve the Visa. Since we were supposed to leave for the U.S. the next day, we called the Embassy to see where the Package was at. They transferred us to the information pay line which just happened to be in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. They told us that the embassy would call us back in about 2 1/2 hours. We didnt have time for that so we called the embassy back and told them that we didnt have any more time to wait. We got thru to the Visa office and they told us that the visa was ready and it was still in the office. For whatever reason, it looks like the forgot to mail it. They told us that we could come to Tokyo and pick it up that day. We left Nagoya within the hour and took the Shinkasen to Tokyo. It was worth the $400 Train ride. We got it.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
