Consulate Review: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : January 26, 2024
Embassy Review : We got to the interview early, around 6:45. We were scheduled around 7:40. Outside of the consulate, there were lots of people mainly tourist visa people. For I-130s' we were sent to a different location. entering the building that had a plaque that said nonimmigrant visa( that's the place they sent us to go, and we just followed where they told us to go.) Once we were in the building, we were checked through security and sent to the second level of the building, where the actual immigration visas were being conducted. They had us organize the papers to turn in and my hubby sam sat in the front row where they called people to turn in the documents. After turning in the documents they confirmed some things about our documents and our relationship(not the actual interview). We waited about another hour to be interview and at this point we spend already 2 hours in the consulate. Around the 4 hour mark sammy was finally called. We only answered 3 questions super simple ones.(to be fair our case was super simple). The confirmed sammys fathers name, they asked me where i was living i told them my US address and told them that i was currently living with sam and had been for 2 yrs and then she asked me what my plan was for going back home. I replied were living with me mom for a bit till we get up on our own 2 feet. she typed for a bit around 5 minutes and finally said it shows here that you've already been approved and she gave us a run down of how we would receive his passport we decided to ship it by mail. Then we left the consulate.
Rating : Very Good

BE AWARE the processing acceptance time is not when you will be done with the process but when you get accepted to start the process!!!

I did the entire process online so when you send your i-130 application you get a notification that it was sent with a case number on it (Aka NOA1). When you receive acceptance letter that is what your approval date is so you begin the process of paying fee's then sending info to the NVC.

when you receive acceptance letter that is when you also get your NVC case number and the Invoice ID number and Access to the Ceac. I hope this gives some of you more clarity and less anxiety about the process good luck. More updates to follow -A

Just sent in the AOS which is the I-864 forms from me and a joint sponsor NVC has to confirm your joint sponsor first before you submit your (the petitioner's) I-864 and tax form.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
