Consulate Review: Amsterdam, Netherlands
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 22, 2023
Embassy Review : I arrived 30 minutes early, but was let in by the guards.
I had brought an accordian folder, but was not allowed to bring it in past security.

I had to wait in the room adjacent to security. Once it was my turn, I had to go to a small lectern first. There they checked whether I had all my documents and copies thereof.
Oddly, they asked for a copy of my passport, which wasn't in the requirements sent by the embassy by e-mail. They checked for my passport (+copy), two pass photos, birth certificate (+copy), police certificate, form i-134, and the DS-160 confirmation page.

Should you for some reason not have copies, there is a copying machine in the room. However, try to bring your own copies, as you will only inconvenience the staff and delay your own appointment.

Once my documents were checked and found to be in order, I had to wait again before being called to the first real booth. There the officer took my documents and asked me if I knew the address my eventual greencard (after Adjustment od Status) would be sent to.

After the first real booth, you wait again until you are called to the second booth. There they ask you various questions about your relationship and ask you to show the proof of your ongoing relationship.

At the second booth, I was approved on the spot. This was also because the results of my medical exam had already arrived and had been processed.
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Washington DC
Event Description
Entry Date : 2023-09-29
Embassy Review : Entered Washington, DC through International Airport Dulles (IAD). There was no large line for security.

Went to the CBP officer and informed him I was entering on a K-1 Visa.
Officer was friendly and immediately asked if I had the "packet" with me, showing that he knew the process.
I handed over my sealed packet and he opened it and inspected it.

I was not taken to secondary questioning, nor was there any other real questioning by the officer.
He stamped my K-1 Visa with my entry date and stamped the end-date of my K-1 status the passport page above.
After the stamping, he welcomed me to the United States and allowed me in.

Very smooth entry by a professional officer. Total time was less than 5 minutes at the officer.
Harassment Level : Low

Hi guys, I was wondering about your experience with scheduling an interview in Amsterdam. Did you have multiple dates to choose from or was there only one day available at a time? Thanks.

Hi, Soda_consumer. We only had a single date available, as far as I could see. I suspect it only shows the earliest available timeslot. However, I only looked at August.
