Visa was "refused" since my fiance didn't have a copy of my divorce decree from 18 years ago. However, the embassy official told her all she needs to do is mail a copy of that decree to the embassy and they'll approve it. He also reassured her that she won't need to come back for an interview. I had a copy of the decree and emailed it to her the same day of the interview. She dropped it off at a local LBC branch, got a waybill number and will now just wait for the embassy to receive the decree and approve it. From what I have seen, we should see the visa in a month...and supposedly the max time they're supposed to take is 2 months.
Update...the embassy wasn't happy with a copy of the divorce decree...had to get an original/certified copy. Got that, mailed it out and now our Visa is approved and issued. Should be getting the passports with Visa by next week and will have my fiance and child here by Thanksgiving!! |

I filed the AOS with stepchild. He had biometrics on Jan 17, 2025 along with his mother. He was just scheduled for another biometrics on Feb 26, 2026, Thinking this is required since he is a minor and he probably doesn't look the same as 13 months ago. Wife's biometrics wasn't rescheduled. Also think since this is rescheduled, the green card is close to being done. |

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
