Event Description
Review Date : March 20, 2025
Embassy Review : For those of us from Malta, the medical examination and visa interview take place in Naples, Italy. I had a smooth and positive experience with both processes, as everyone was very helpful and kind.

April 22 2024 – Medical Examination
I arrived at the clinic around 6:20 AM and was the third person in line. At around 7:30 AM, they let us into the clinic, seating us according to our position in line. A staff member then distributed numbered tickets based on our order of arrival and collected our passports along with these tickets.

The process proceeded as follows:

Initial Check-In: I was called into an office where they asked basic questions, such as my address, country of residence, and mobile number, to confirm my details.
Blood Work: After waiting, I was called in for a blood test.
X-Ray: I was then escorted to another room for a chest X-ray.
Vaccination Review & Payment: Next, I met with a staff member to review my vaccination records and pay the medical examination fee.
General Medical Assessment: Finally, I was sent to the first floor for a standard medical check-up, asking if you suffer from anything in particular, took blood pressure, tested eyesight, took weight and height measurements.
The entire process was smooth, taking about two hours in total. The clinic does not provide any documents directly to applicants—everything is sent to the U.S. Embassy for the interview.

April 23 2024 – Visa Interview
I arrived at the U.S. Consulate at 7:15 AM and was the first in line. Upon arrival:

Security personnel took my passport details and asked me to wait under an outdoor umbrella.
The line quickly grew, so arriving early is a good idea.
Important: Do not bring any electronic devices (phones, smartwatches, tablets, gaming devices), as they are not allowed inside.
At 8:00 AM, they let us in. The process inside was as follows:

Document Submission:

On the second floor, a staff member at a small desk called applicants by their ticket numbers and requested specific documents, including:
Passport
Police conduct certificate
Divorce decree (if applicable)
Birth certificate
I-134 Affidavit of Support form
It’s a good idea to keep these documents ready to avoid delays.

First Booth:

I handed over my documents, which were checked for completeness.
Biometrics (fingerprints) were taken.

Final Interview:

I was called to another booth for the actual interview.
They asked me to swear an oath and then proceeded with questions such as:
How long have you been engaged?
Who is your fiancé(e)?
Is your fiancé(e) American? Where was he/she born?
What is your job?
Have you lived in any other country?
How many times have you visited the U.S. to see your fiancé(e)?
Have you been married before?
Do you have any children?
The entire process took about 1.5 hours, and they informed me of my visa approval immediately.

Visa Collection:
For applicants from Malta, note that you cannot prepay to have your visa sent to your address. You have two options:

Arrange a private courier to deliver the visa to Malta.
Travel back to Naples to collect it personally.
The visa is usually issued within three business days.

Final Tips:
Be courteous, truthful, and smile!
Ensure you have all required documents to make the process smooth for yourself and others waiting.

I hope this helps future applicants. Best of luck!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
