Hi AlinaK, So sorry this is such a late reply, but my husband and I have gone through the exact same scenario. We never received a packet in the mail and only an email requesting a few updates and passport to be submitted. What ever came of your situation? Did you need another interview?

I didn't need another interview. If they requested your passport it means you've got approved. They put an immigrant visa in the passport with the date till which you have to cross the border. They didn't send any packet with documents, it's now submitted online and the officers have access to it when you cross the border.

Wow! That’s encouraging. I hope that’s the case for us, there was a bit of time between our last interview and now, and everyone has been saying it over a year, they’ll request another one. So we’ve been worried we missed some instructions by not receiving the letter in the mail. Do you know roughly how long it took as a turnaround? So far when we check our status it still says “refused” - such a stressful process. ?

There was more than a year between my interview and the time they requested updated medical (I do jot remember whether I needed another police report). Usually they do not request your passport if they need another interview. It took about 2 or 3 weeks after they received my passport to see status changed to "approved" online.

Thanks so much for your reply… really hoping this is the case for us. It has been a long road! And congrats to you!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
