Your's is taking a very long time :-( Did you have problems? Do you have an attorney filing a request for response on your case?

We have an attorney. The senators office sends inquiries every 60 days. Each time they tell us that my wife is DQ and they will schedule an interview when a slot is available. They do first come first serve, and do not provide information about where we are in line. We were told that it’s about 12 months after being DQ. We hit DQ in October last year. Here’s hoping.
Jeff & Daniel on 2023-06-14 said:
Oh OK, your "Send IV package", which I believe is the same as the DQ date, says Oct 2021, but from your reply it sounds like it is just a typo and it is really Oct 2022, which makes more sense. Hope you get it sooner, and everything goes well. Thanks for responding!

Oh… we thought send IV meant when we submitted the documents in CEAC for processing after paying the fees. We never saw a line for DQ.
Jeff & Daniel on 2023-06-15 said:
Ah, OK. So it took almost a year for you to go from submitting your NVC docs (DS-261) in Oct 2021 to becoming DQ'ed in Oct 2022? I'm honestly not sure what the fields mean - and you may be right. I would think this site would have a specific field that clearly labeled "Documentarily Qualified Date". I may have incorrectly assumed the field "Submit DS-261" was used for when you submit the docs to the CEAC as it seems to somewhat follow the chronological order of things, but I may be wrong. They ask for a lot of unneeded dates, like the receive and pay bill dates, which really don't matter. So it is overly confusing.

Yes. So we had a super quick experience with USCIS. Less than two months for an approved I-130. But NVC shot us down 3 times for different documents. Drove my lawyer nuts. They’d ask for W2’s. Then say they wanted an income statement from the IRS. Then they said oh hey also send us a new year’s W2 also since it’s been 9 months. Back then we had to wait three months each time we had to resubmit a document. It was a nightmare.

Geez, sorry to hear it. I've heard they can be very finicky. Hopefully it goes smoothly from here for you!

I hope so. We’ve been waiting a long time. So long that we will have been married 2 years in 2 months from today! The one bright side is that they will probably let us get an IR1 rather than CR1 (less than two years married). We’ve heard they automatically adjust it when it’s been that long.

I hear you !! The whole experience makes me look at the immigration process (and both the political parties) in a much less favorable light. The US has a labor shortage, yet they'd rather spend money building more walls than spending what would be less money to fix the immigration system and get the people we need in. I'm definitely not condoning illegal immigration, but this experiences makes me realize why so many do it. Its a 2 year wait for us .... and a ridiculous 10+ year for other classes. On your other point, I talked with a couple last month and they automatically switched them from CR1 to IR1 for the same reason. So it'll at least be one less immigration process down the road :-)

Just got our interview appointment notice today. It will be exactly one year from our DQ date. Seems almost by design.
Jeff & Daniel on 2023-08-14 said:
Congratulations! Glad to see they are making progress ... albeit very slowly. Best of luck for a smooth and fast interview!
Jeff & Daniel on 2023-10-12 said:
Just thinking about you guys and wanted to wish you the best on the interview next week. I read someone was delayed in their interview approval because they didn't bring the long form version of their birth certificate. So passing that along as a cautionary item. Good luck!

Thanks so much guys! We are heading down on Sunday. She has her medical on Monday, biometrics Tuesday, paperwork review Wednesday, and interview Thursday.

Wow - that’s a busy and exciting week! Safe travels and best wishes!

We just got approved today! They told us it’ll be about 1-3 weeks for the visa to arrive, but we are approved. Tougher interview than expected, but we got through it. If you would like some recommendations for hotels and medical clinics, happy to help! Juarez wasn’t so bad like some people told us to expect. The consulate area is actually nice.
Jeff & Daniel on 2023-10-20 said:
Congratulations! So I’m a little confused about the VISA. Do they give you something temporary where you can come to the US - or do you have to wait? Also, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
blank avatar MikeAndDafne on 2023-10-20 said:
You’ll get a green sheet of paper that says you’re approved and it has a QR code to scan so you can track your visa. You’ll have to register for your appointment once you get the email telling you the date. At that point you’ll tell them where to send it (via DHL). You have to wait for it to arrive before you can have your partner enter the country. I’ll just fly back down in a week or two and being her with me in our case. A good medical clinic for the exam is CMI. The other is “la frontera”. CMI is nicer and more modern. They also offer you a free pick up from the airport to your hotel when you arrive in CJ. Have your partner prepared to strip down for a thorough inspection. If he has a tattoo, they typically require a psychological exam (stupid). We stayed at holiday inn Tecnologico , and it was about a 5-10 min drive to the consulate via Uber. (You’ll want to use this likely). There’s a bunch of hotels right by the consulate as well. I highly recommend using CJ airport rather than el paso. The border crossing at the bridges was well over an hour and a half. Expensive taxi. Any other questions, feel free to ask!
