Comments : We never received a welcome letter from the NVC. At 30 days, we filled out a public inquiry form asking about the status of the case, they responded that they had not yet received it and to wait until the 60 day mark to make another inquiry. At 60 days we sent in another inquiry and they confirmed receipt of the petition but said they would send detailed instructions soon. We sent in another inquiry a week later and got a response that we will be notified once the case is forwarded to the assigned US embassy. At this point, we still had not received the NVC case number, or invoice/beneficiary ID. Additionally, since the case is processing in Iraq and the US embassy there is working in a very limited capacity, we did not even know which US embassy our case would be assigned to. Finally, we sent another public inquiry at the 72 day mark to request our case number and they responded back with the NVC case # and invoice ID. However, a few days later we received an email saying the NVC changed the embassy to Turkey and that the case number had changed as well.
It was a very long process to get a case number and I'm not sure we would have gotten this information had we not sent in multiple public inquiry forms to push the case along.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
