Comments : June 26, 2012 - Vasya's 10-year Permanent Resident card (THE greencard) arrived today in the mail! At long last, this highly stressful part in our journey is over and we can't thank everyone enough for the help and support here on VJ! Much love from us.
--Anna and Vasya

APPROVED!!!!! No interview and overall we a elated and extremely relieved after such a looong wait (over 8 months approx. with not a peep from USCIS/VCS.). We were thinking the docs got lost but thank god it isn't so!
He will get his greencard w/in 60 Days.
YEAH!!! WOOT WOOT. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

As of June 6, 2012, we are STILL WAITING for a decision! On June 31st it will have been 10 months since we filed, 9 months since his biometrics, over 3 years since we married, and his 1-year extension letter for his temp greencard that USCIS sent will be expiring soon!!! That is, unless we ~*miraculously*~ are notified by VSC in the next 20-25 days.
Arghhh, VSC what is going on with you guys up North?!

Embassy Review : My fiance said that the only painful thing about his whole interview experience was having to wait outside the embassy in the frigid cold! Other than that, he said it was very simple and utterly painless!

He was asked only 2 simple questions: \"How did you two meet?\" and \"How is Anna\'s [me] Russian?\" The officer even made some jokes and had a good laugh with my fiance! Other than glancing over the financial documents and further required paperwork, that was it and my man was told he was approved! The officer didn\'t ask to see any of the \"proof of relationship\" stuff we\'d spent hours putting together and organizing.

By the way, my fiance completed his whole medical exam on January 19 (only 2 days before his interview).

Embassy Review : Vasya arrived at Dulles Int'l Airport on March 19, 2009.

When he received his packet from the US Embassy in Moscow, it was torn and somewhat damaged. We were really worried about US officials thinking that he'd tampered with it or something.
However, upon his arrival and handing over his packet to the immigration officials, he said they seemed not to care. They hardly looked or talked to him, and instead were joking among themselves about something completely off subject.

So, it was very easy. Everything went smoothly and quite fast. No problems here to report!

Embassy Review : Our AOS interview was scheduled for September 11, 2009. Other than having just the usual nerves, the 9/11 date factor made us that much more edgy.
So, my husband and I arrived a about 15 minutes early (the office is actually in Fairfax, VA) and sat down in the crowded waiting room area. We were called in about 15 minutes later by a woman who right away made us feel comfortable right away. After swearing to tell "...nothing but the truth" she ushered us to take a seat across from her desk while she sorted through all the papers we'd submitted. She laughingly commented on all the "annoying" sticky-notes I'd tagged info with in the K-1 visa application and made us laugh again when she showed us the wastebasket full of stickys!

The questions she asked us:
-Our full names, parents full names, address, d.o.b, etc.
-How we met and where, and a short history of our relationship with general dates/milestones (when we got engaged, when/where we visited each other, etc.).
-She asked my husband (I was not to speak) some yes/no procedural questions like:
"Are you a communist?"
"Have you ever been deported?"
"Do you have plans to overthrow the U.S. government?"
-She said that she didn't feel the need to ask any questions about myself since all the papers were already in order and she could see that our marriage was one of love and legitimacy.

She then said that my husband was approved for the 2 year conditional greencard and took the I-94 out of his passport! She explained what it entails and even gave us a lot of advice about preparing for our next interview in 2011, which was really helpful. I even had to ask HER if she wanted to see any recent photos of us - oh the irony! She said she didn't need to but would love to see them anyways. So we showed her the photos and we chatted a little more. She was extremely gracious, helpful, and surprisingly easy to talk to. I wish we\'d gotten her name! On the whole, it was a piece of cake and a very pleasant, happy, and rewarding experience!

P.S. Make sure to bring extra cash for parking - we paid $4.00 I think.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
