Consulate Review: Malaysia
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 2, 2022
Embassy Review : Gave the wrong information that one of my Taiwan Police Certificates was in the wrong format and issued an 221g rejection.
Then I contacted the Taiwan authority and confirmed the version that I have on hand was the only certified version.
Embassy then dropped an email apologizing for the error, and requested me to drop off my passport at the nearest Aramex.

Got my passport with an approved visa on hand two days later.
Rating : Poor

Hi, I am a Ghanaian who s currently in Malaysia. I want to schedule my US visa interview here in Malaysia but I have an overstay status. After Malaysian immigration clear my overstay, do you think it would affect me at the US Embassy?

I think it depends on what type of US Visa you are applying for. As far as I know, (if you are applying for US Tourist Visa), there are a couple of pages of information that you would need to fill in. And that also involves your history regarding overstay/ conviction/ any criminal history and etc. And then you would need to be completely honest while filling in them. While I do not have an exact answer to your question, I wish you all the best.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.

** Not all cases are transfered
