Comments : I will give you an example of what happen to me:

1: August 21st: Interview; was given refusal status 221g (yellow paper slip) for a missing document (Divorce Decree). It wasn't missing, it just wasn't certified so they didn't accept it.

2. August 22nd: I had the courts who had my divorce decree send them to my dad. So, they were coming from Nevada to South Carolina. They sent it by first class USPS and it took 7 days total. This cost me about $30 dollars because I asked for 4 certified copies of the document.

3. August 29th, 2023: My father received the document and sent it to me using FedEx (Make an account, its 40 dollars cheaper) and it got to me by the morning of Aug 31st. this cost me $100.10 dollars just to send a document from USA to Colombia.

4. August 31st: My wife got the documents here at the house and immediately sent them off to Bogota from Medellin. Luckily it got there on Aug 29th at the service center. Which is where they take biometrics. That is the embassy's intake center.

5. Sept 1st: We saw on the DHL waybill that they have signed it over and didn't hear anything after that. We knew that it will be at least tuesday until I hear something because it was Labor Day weekend and they got the document late afternoon Friday.

6. Sept 6th: we got a letter from the intake center saying that they were going to forward the document to the embassy.

7: Sept 11th: I see activity on the CEAC Status: Still refusal but the update date changed. Which means someone looked at it.

8: Sept 13th: I saw more activity in the morning. Saw that it was changed to Administrative processing. Then, changed to 'Issued" a few hours later. Didn't hear anything.

9: September 15th, We got an email stating that they have created a DHL Waybill and it will be on its way.

Port of Entry Review
Event Date
Port of Entry : Miami
POE Date : 2023-12-05
Got EAD Stamp : Yes,Passport Stamp
Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 5
Comments : When we arrived in Miami there was nobody in line. Not one soul. Told the officer that we had a CR1 visa. He took both of our photos using the Webcam. He just asked me what was my relationship to my wife (cr1 holder). We both were taken to secondary. Didn't even have to sit at in the waiting room. Took us immediately. Asked to see our marriage certificate and verify the address for the green card.. Within 2 minutes she was stamped as IR1 and told us to leave, basically.

Where it got frustrating was when we approached the officer near the baggage handlers. He was very rude. Spoke Spanish to my wife and because I didn't do anything, because I didn't understand him, He yelled at me. My wife told him I didn't speak spanish. Then he gave me incomplete directions in English. Because they were not clear. I didn't know what to do and then with a condescending attitude asked if I understood English.

Because we had two cats with us, we went through extra screening. Nothing illegal was found. Paperwork was in order and we were released.

I wish the immigration was a little easier on us because it left a bad taste in my wife's mouth with their attitude. I just told her that most of them have a chip on their shoulder and that's the last time you will have to deal with those particular ass hats.

SSN Number:
12/18 Went to SSA in Myrtle Beach and told that my wife's information has not been sent to their computers even after checking the box on the DS-260. Was told to wait a little longer.

12/27 Went back to the SSA office and had them manually apply for the SSA card.

Moral of the Story:
Don't believe that the government will follow through. If you want something done correct, you must do it yourself.

Give it a week and go to the SSA office with SS5 (filled out), Passport with Visa and endorsement stamp and foreign birth certificate with translations (if not in english) and file it ASAP!

UPDATE!
RECIEVED GREEN CARD ON FEB 3RD, 2024. 58 DAYS AFTER POE ENTRY.

RECIEVED THE 10 YEAR IR1 GREEN CARD.

Event Description

Embassy Review : I am giving it a 4 because not all the people that are working there know the standard of procedure (SOP). When my wife left the interview 4.5 hours later. She told me that I was allowed to attend with her. We have asked many of the guards and they told us that she was the only one who could go in. I wish I could have gone in because I cooked out in the sun. Now I am sunburned. Also, why it took 4.5 hours for a 5 min interview is beyond me.

To start out with:
The embassy is very confusing when it comes to the entrances to the embassy. There are three entrances. The big one is for the people who work there, the medium size is for the US citizens and the smallest one is for the Colombians and ones who are trying to obtain a visa. They are scattered all around the huge campus with very little signage.

They do have chairs across from the entrance, but you have to pay 1.000 cop to sit on them and also it just seemed like the guys who collect the money only collect from me (the American) and the Colombians were not even asked to pay. Since I sat there for 4.5 hours, many have came and went.

My wife said that they request that you order your documents in a certain order. When you attend your medical, they give you this quarter sheet (1/4) in Spanish that will tell you which order that the embassy wants your documents to be placed in. We brought a hugh binder of many things, and they didn't look at anything other item other than the papers that were asked by that quarter sheet. They will also send you an email about 2 weeks before the interview telling you that they never received certain items from the NVC, but yet they documentary qualified you. Not sure what that was about.

I wish there was more to tell, but since I was told that I couldn't go in. I can only tell you what I saw from the outside. Lots of people were lined up and they took them in by appointment time by a large speaker. They allowed the CR/IR in first. I think they have the earliest appointments compared to the other categories of visas.

There is going to be a significant amount of wait time until I finish with NVC because I want my wife to enter after the 2 year anniversary. So, I need to push back the timeline.

Did it on purpose. I was reading so many horror stories about getting the conditional green card. We got the visa on September 18th. Our anniversary was Nov 9th. What's 2 more months wait for less headaches in the future. May I ask? How long did it take for your SSN number to arrive after POE?

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
