Comments : They rejected our initial P3 response because the system wouldn't accept our picture; they made us do it again and ensure the picture uploaded.

Administrative review because they wanted to see ALL of my passport pages, not just my front page (which was NOT listed as a requirement online), and more pictures from her from all our time together, specifically (we brought 4 to the interview, all from 2023, assuming they didn't need older ones since they had them from our USCIS package...)

Consulate Review: Guangzhou, China
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description

Embassy Review : Be aware, K-1s get lumped in with immigration visas, so the forms and requirements that are presently available online are targeted towards folks applying for immigration visas, which means the information you get may not be applicable or reliable. That is, we went through the checklist of everything beforehand, and made sure we had everything, and yet we were still referred for administrative processing. Two things they asked for: ALL my passport pages (not specified in the checklist anywhere), and more photos of us (we brought 4 new ones to the interview, I guess they don't check against or use the USCIS package?). The 3 forms they gave afterwards were a bit confusing.
Basically, step 1 is make sure your delivery method on ustraveldocs is the way you want it (probably you want it mailed since you weren't immediately approved, just double check that), step 2 DOES NOT APPLY, and step 3 you have to dig through some pages online to find the instructions for how to submit the documents. I guess it was as smooth as could be with how clunky courier services are.
In terms of scheduling and timing of the interview, the appointment was set for 7:50, but her interview wasn't for about 2.5 hours after that. We video-called while she could still use her phone, and the line outside the consulate looked insane, easily hundreds of people lined up and more still arriving before the consulate even opened. Definitely a DMV-like experience where you want to show up as early as you can to get your interview as early as possible.
Rating : Moderate

Hello! Sorry to here about being put on Administrative Processing. May I ask why they wanted photocopies of ALL your passport pages? My spouse will be going to Guangzhou for the interview and I want to make sure that we have everything and anything that might be asked of us. Thanks in advance! ?

I think it was because they wanted to be sure I was in China with her and that our travel lined up. All of this was done for the USCIS packet with checking my plane tickets and hotel reservations against her passport pages, and by putting dates and locations on pictures of the two of us in China and elsewhere, but I had never scanned or sent my stamps and visas. Best of luck! Do let me know how your interview turns out, I'd be curious to see if including your passport pages preemptively gets you approved on the spot, or if there are other hurdles that aren't on the official checklist.
