Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 3, 2023
Embassy Review : Stayed at the Fairfield Marriott across the street the night before. 7am was our time. It’s a 3 minute walk to the embassy from the hotel. You arrive to a very unorganized area outside the embassy gate. Many people trying to sell you items and what not. You need to listen to the speakers that will broadcast across the road from the embassy. They will tell you what times are currently being called. Once you hear your time, simply cross the street and follow the crowd. Don’t arrive early. If you have 7am, 645am is plenty of time as nothing will happen until right at 7am. For our K1 interview, the petitioner is allowed to join inside for the process. No advance notice needed or special letter. Just cross the road and tell the first security guard you are a K1 and the petitioner is with you. Simply show your US passport for ID and you’re in. You will go through airport style security. Then to a document check where you will put everything in a specific order. After this, you go to another line for a second document check. After this, they keep the documents and you sit in an open air waiting area. Bathrooms and a cafe are available. You will sit and wait to hear your name called over a speaker. Simply go to the window number they call with your name. They will have all your documents. You raise your right hand and take the oath. Then finger prints electronic. You are speaking through a glass window and on a pay phone style phone. Miguel was asked a handful of basic questions about me and us. My job. My birthday. Where we had traveled to. Has he ever committed any crimes. Very basic items. No tricks. The Immigration Officer interviewing Miguel was wonderful x 1000. So nice and polite and really seemed to enjoy his job and seeing loved ones getting the chance to be together. The document check staff and security was also very helpful and nice. The interview was no-more than about 5-7 mins. He was told he was approved and he would have the passport back in about a week. Overall a 10/10.

We completed the process of the ais-us visa website and were able to pay the fee and the calendar came up. They have visa appointments every single day in November except the holidays. I was shocked too! Best of luck to you guys!

Hi Michael and Miguel congrats on your approval! Our cases were sent on the same day but ours still show in transit. We were wondering how you guys completed the process since we wanna be ready for when our case gets there! Did you have to complete the DS160 for non-immigrant or DS260 for immigrant? We’re a little confused here. If you could help us we’d appreciate it! Thank you!
blank avatar Michael&Miguel on 2023-09-30 said:
Hey guys. Yes we completed the ds 160 a few weeks ago. Then create your ais us visa account on the site. And click on register your k1 visa. There you will enter the ds-160 number, your bgt number and passport info. From there you can schedule the pick up location for the passport and pay the visa fee. The last step will open the calendar for the embassy slot and the Asc slot. The first available was Nov 2 but we will check back for cancellations. Good luck to you guys !

You’re welcome anytime! No we need to wait for the doctors office to open Monday to schedule the medical exam. Will try and schedule around the 25th of October :)

Hey there! huge congrats on getting through this process! My fiance and I have been (im)patiently waiting for packet 3 and emailed the embassy and got a generic 'it will be a few more weeks' response. Curious if you waited for the packet before scheduling the interview?? There is so much conflicting info about that!
blank avatar Carlos And Kerry on 2023-11-21 said:
No need to wait. Schedule the interview, pay the fee. But pick a date a few weeks out from when you think they receive your packet. You'll have the email by then.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
