Consulate Review: Sydney, Australia
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : May 4, 2023
Embassy Review : I had my interview at the Sydney Consulate on 28 April 2023.

I was asked the following questions:

How did you meet?
Where did you meet?
Where did you physically meet?
What is the total amount of time you have physically seen each other?
Where will you live in the USA?
Why did you stay in the USA for 4 months on ESTA?
What does your fiancé do for work?
What do you do for work?

Be prepared to sit on the wooden bench in the consulate for roughly two hours. The benches are very hard and there is nothing to lean your back against.
Rating : Good

Hello! Thanks so much for your review! It’s very helpful. Currently our case is at NVC and soon my fiancé will also need to do his interview at the embassy in Sydney. I was just wondering what the availability was for the appointments? Did you have to wait a long time to make an appointment or was it easy to get an early appointment?

Hi! The embassy put me on a waitlist but I was only on the waitlist for 1 day before they sent me an appointment time. I believe that they send out appointments towards the end of each month and this was at the end of March. I took the first and only appointment time/date that they offered.

Wow! It worked out very well well for you! I’m glad you didn’t have to wait too long! Thanks so much for your response! I hope my fiancé all gets an early appointment. We are so tired of waiting….. I wish you all the best with the wedding planning! I am glad the wait is finally over for you!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
