Congratulations! Why did it take a month to get your Visa? Did you end up in administrative process/221g?

Thank you! No official administrative processing, no. We received our interview invite from the NVC less than 2 weeks before our scheduled interview and were unable to schedule an available approved medical exam in time. (Only 2 of the 5 approved doctors in Germany are currently operating). Additionally, we had previously filed a i-129f (got married and withdrew petition to stay together during the pandemic) and our ustraveldocs still had my husband's old passport number. This meant we could not file the document delivery address and took a ridiculous amount of back and forth to get that updated so we could file it with the consulate.
Because we didn't have these two things at the time of our interview, they held onto my husband's passport until the documents were received. Our status checker read as "refused" for the duration of this wait.
Sorry to see that you are currently wrapped up in their game! We did both of our visa processes without an attorney. It might be worth obtaining a copy of the I-864 that your attorney filed for you, proofread it again, and resubmit it to the consulate along with the g-28 so they can contact your attorney if needed. Be sure to CC your attorney on that email. If your i-864 is unsatisfactory, all you need to show is a household members assets (i-864a) or a joint sponsor (i-864). Best of luck!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
** Not all cases are transfered
