Comments : The embassy was slow to send us Packet 4 (instructions for medical and interview). Thankfully, I know others who are also dealing with this embassy, and they shared their packet 4 email with us so we could move forward with the process. We did finally receive Packet 4 on the morning of his medical appointment.

The medical report was not received before interview, so the application was initially refused on the day of our interview (12/6/22). I called the hospital on 12/15/22 and they confirmed the medical report was sent that week. I checked daily (a bit obsessively) and I'm glad that I did! Otherwise, I wouldn't have known that every time anything for our case was touched, an update is reflected.

Changes to our case update status are as follows:

1 - Ready, case created 10/22/22, case last updated 11/15/22 - I didn't think to check the status before the Visa application was done so this was the first status we have.
2 - Refused, case last updated 12/6/22 - updated within hours of our interview.
3 - Refused, case last updated 12/16/22 - we believe this is when the medical report was received. NOTE - Medical was done 11/25/22; it took 21 calendar days/15 business days before the embassy received it.
4 - Refused, case last updated 12/20/22 - we believe this is when the medical report was scanned.
5 - Application Received, case received 12/22/22, case last updated 12/22/22 - we believe this is when the medical was actually added to our case making the application complete and ready for readjudication.
6 - Approved, case last updated 12/23/22
7 - Issued, case last updated 12/28/22

We got the pickup email 12/30/22. The email comes from donotreply@usvisa-info.com and the subject is Yatri: U.S. DoS Visa system travel document shipment ready for pickup. I hope this info is helpful to others, particularly those who are also going through the US Embassy in Kingston, JA.

Hi guys, that was very fast you got the interview date. Did you guys email the embassy to get the package 3 and 4 with instructions? Or what's the difference between 3 and 4 packages? Any advice on how we can get them quickly?

Jamaica has no backlog, so the schedule was pretty much wide open. Packet 3 is the email notification with your case number. I sent two email inquiries before I received it, but I don't know if that had any effect on when we received it. As soon as I got Packet 3, we completed the DS-160, while our case was still in transit. Once that is done, you're able to schedule the interview and medical. You don't have to wait for your case status to update to Ready. Luckily, I have acquaintances who were approved earlier this year and they shared Packet 4 with me, so I had the instructions. The embassy didn't send it until the morning that the medical was scheduled.

Oh wow thank you for sharing this information. Happy for you guys that you got the interview so fast! 🙂 What is it in the package 4? Is it anyting we need before the interview or can we do it anyways before we get the package 4? Thank you very much 🤗

For us, Packet 4 contains two attachments. One gives instructions to complete the DS-160, register online with the consulate to pay the fee and schedule the interview, schedule the medical, gather documents for the interview, Form I-134 instructions and form, and the domestic violence brochure. The other includes information about the medical--what to bring, the location, contact information for the facility, a health history and physical questionnaire.

Oh wow thank you so very much for clarifying what those packages means. We had no clue! So basically you don't need to get those packages before scheduling the interview it seems like. Thank you so very much and best of luck to you on the interview next week!! :)

How was the filing process for the AOS? How did you get through with the EAD quickly? Congrats on everything as well.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
