Embassy Review : My interview was on Oct 15th in Montreal. I stayed accross the street at the Tour Centre ville hotel - got a very nice room on the 11th floor was like an apartment for $112 with taxes incl. Great place to be just for the interview purpose.
Went at 7 am to stand in line and there were 7 others before me. the doors opened at 7:30am and a security gaurd asked for the appt letter and passport -one by one we were checked the ladies on one side and the guys on the other by another security gaurd who was very nice. When it was my turn I had to remove my jacket and the security guy gave me a Letter which was D - I was the forth in line for the K1 interview. I had all my papers in a nice binder with my pics in front.. yes they do allow binders. I had one card that my Fiance had sent me and it had 4 buttons with LOVE on it and that was a problem to the security guy sitting behind the counter but they were nice about it and said I was in Love and I had to go downstairs where the others were and was greeted by another security gaurd who went with us in an elevator to the 4th floor and sat in a waiting area. One by one we were called - to give the paper work and show them that we had the x-ray(it is not taken) just show and tell.
They asked for the originals of the birth cert/divorce certificate if any, fiance's letter from his workplace,1 copy of the taxes/intent letter from fiance, passport, form I134,my medical envelope.
then I had to go and pay the US131 to the counter and got a receipt and go back to the person that took my documents and gave it her.
then I had to take finger prints which did not work for me so I had to use some gel and clean the machine since my prints were so light.. she started laughing saying I have no lines..lol
went back and sat - when I finally got called it was 9:30am that was 2 hours..
all those waiting there were so nervous and me too since I did not have one police clearance from my birth country due to a delay on their side..
but no sooner I knocked and opened that door my body was light and had no fear at all - God was with me..lol
she gave me a paper to sign and before I can even put my signature she asked me to tell in a short version how I met my fiance.. she said I can talk and sign at the same time.. she was nice very soft spoken but was ok.. drilled me a bit with non stop questions.
where did I meet and when/ when did I last travel to the states and for how long/ where he works/ what I do/ how long I have been in Canada/ and then she mentioned that he is a little too old.. aahh - I told her that when I am in Love age is no barrier and she said that was a smart answer.
then she wanted to see pics.. remember I had those pic's in the front of the binder section.. I bought this ring binder and it had a section for pics. I had to explain 4 pics to her and after I did that I happened to show her another pic of me and him in San Diego and she said she knows exactly where I am and smiled and then said she is from Anaheim. so tell the truth and it sets you free. Thank God..
then she gave me back my originals the birth certificate and divorce originals.
She then said I am approved and congratulated me - but now was the fun part no sooner she put her fingers on the key board the red flag - I did not have my one police report(remember) so she gave me a form and gave my passport back and told me - no sooner the police report comes to send the police report and passport back and I rec'd my report by the 27th and I mailed it next day priority and they rec'd it on the 28th Oct and processed the visa on the 5th Nov and I rec'd my passport and sealed package on the 10th Nov.
So after all its not bad they are all nice..

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
