Hello! I notice you submitted your I-130 in October 2020. That’s also when me and my husband submitted. I’m American, but we both live in Nigeria. Just wondering how you received a response so quickly. I fear something got lost in the mail :(

Hello! My lawyer submitted it for us and I remove it had tracking on it. We received a noticed when they received it then it was a longgg wait. We send in all the documents needed so that we would just get an approval verse having to send additional supporting documents. You should be able to contact them and ask them if they have received your packet and do it inquiry on the website

Thanks for replying! We also used a lawyer to submit, but we sent the documents to our permanent residence in the US, where my mom stays. I’m thinking that the process will take longer because we are both in Nigeria. Is that true?

Sorry I realize that what I sent may not make sense. Our lawyer submitted the I-130, but then the address for notices is our permanent address in the US. We received the receipt confirming that our application was submitted, but we haven’t gotten anything since. We submitted October 1st. I’m afraid our process will take longer because we’re both living in Nigeria OR because the mail got lost.

thank you for clarifying! keep the faith... me and my husband started getting worried to the point we wanted to do a visitors visa. Literally days after we decided not to do it we got a response. You should prayerfully get a response soon. I am not sure if the processing time is different for those that live out of the country. Did you ever get your notice stating that they received the packet? Did you know that you can go online to check on the status if they received it or not?

here is the website to check your status of your petition https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/landing.do

Yes, they received it almost immediately. Just a waiting game now. Praying we hear back soon.

it’s good to know that they received it immediately! That was the same for me and then it was a long wait before I heard that they Approved the Petition. What center are you out of? I was out in Nebraska and I heard that they are a little bit faster with processing. Stay hopeful you should hear something very soon!

Potomac center. Thanks for the well wishes!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
