Hello and good evening, my fiancé and I have been following your timeline. He is Jamaican our Noa1 is the same and Noa2 is a day apart. Do you mind sharing when your case got to NVC? We are still waiting on our case number. Trying to see how fast things happen once NVC receives the petition. Thanks in advance for any information you provide. All the best, Lisa

Hi Lisa, we aren’t exactly sure when the case was sent to NVC but I sent an email to NVCResearch@state.gov on August 30 and received an email on September 1 saying that our case was received by NVC and we should expect information soon then on Tuesday we received the case number.

Hey Marissa, Good morning, thanks for your response. It’s helpful, I just got my response from NVC yesterday. Hopefully we’ll have an in transit email soon. I’m in Jamaica at present and would love it if my fiancé and I could return to the states together. Fingers crossed. Thanks again and good luck on the interview and moving forward. Have a great day, blessings! Lisa

Hi Lisa, yeah it moves relatively quickly! We actually had to reschedule the interview because of course medical appointments did not align with the 10 day requirement. Good luck and wishing you all the best!

Many congratulations Marissa and Neil, you have made it through the roughest part of what has become and exhausting K-1 process. Continued good luck to you both moving forward. We are finally in transit to Jamaica. Do you all have any advice for us as we prepare for the medical and interview?
blank avatar Marissa0704 on 2022-10-28 said:
Thank you Lisa! I really appreciate it and yes finally at the end of this exhausting and stressful process. You’re closing in as well. As for advice, yes we recommend scheduling the medical at least 2 weeks in advance. We had to keep changing it to ensure that there was sufficient time. This will allow for the results to be sent to the embassy timely. Expect to get lots of vaccines and spend 5-6 hours at the hospital. For the actual interview, try to be very organized and make copies of originals. Bring additional documentation of continued relationship. You might not need it but it’s good to be prepared. Questions were straight forward like what does your US Fiancé do for work? Where did you meet? When was your first time visiting Jamaica? It was pretty informal. He was in there for about an hour.

Marissa, this process has been way more stressful than originally anticipated, largely in part of USCIS. It’s so unfortunate how slow they’ve been in processing petitions and then forwarding approved petitions to NVC. We’re so happy to be beyond this phase! The end is indeed closing in and we’re so excited. Thanks for your response, we will definitely set up the medical 2 weeks before the interview, as well as getting things well organized in advance of our interview. Were the appointments for medical and interviews plentiful? Also do you mind if I check back with you on how fast the visa is in hand? I’ve seen some people get theirs in as little as 3 days. We’re hoping Michael will be able to spend Christmas in the U.S. this year, we might get lucky!! Thanks again, and best of luck to you and Neil!
blank avatar Marissa0704 on 2022-10-28 said:
The bulk of the stress is literally USCIS, waiting for USCIS and worrying about USCIS. Unfortunately, this isn’t the end of our USCIS processing but at least we can wait together. The distance is very very overwhelming. The medical appointments were very plentiful. You can actually look up the availability on the St Andrews hospital website and for the interview, I believe that now that you have your case number, you can actually log into the visa system, pay the visa fee and see the availability. Yes, feel free to check back. The officer told Oneil that it usually takes 2 days but at that time the system was down so it can take up to a week. I’m hoping you will be lucky and get it in the 2 days. You’re more than welcome and we’re more than happy to help. Good luck with everything!
blank avatar Pure Joy on 2022-10-28 said:
Thank you, I was able to check the medical appointments they are indeed plentiful, after Nov 10th. Haven’t been able check interview appointments yet, it looks like those will be available to view once we pay the fee. One more question and I’ll quit hounding you, did you have to wait for an email from the embassy before you were able to pay the visa fee? I haven’t been able to pay as we have no invoice number. Someone in my FB group said the fee will likely need to be paid the day of the interview, not sure how true this is. She also indicated, she’s been waiting over two weeks for the embassy to contact her. I don’t know, we’re all Navigating this process as we go and searching for answers. Everything seems so secretive in this process. Many thanks again!!
blank avatar Marissa0704 on 2022-10-28 said:
No worries! Please feel free to ask as many questions as you want. We actually paid the fees in advance. We even paid before getting the email from the embassy. On the day that I received the NVC case number, I paid the fees and attempted to schedule the medicals. But due to the medicals, we had to push the dates for the interview. We ended up receiving the embassy email after we already scheduled the appointment. Hopefully you will receive the embassy email soon and I’ve heard of individuals reaching out to the embassy for the packet 3 email to speed up the process.

Thank you so much for your graciousness. I just feel like I’m going mad right now, all this conflicting information. Can you walk me through how you paid the fee, and subsequently scheduled your medical appointment? I would feel so much better if I can at least get these two steps completed.

Sure I used this website to pay the fee: https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-jm/iv this is where you will pay the visa fee and schedule the interview appointment. For the medicals: https://amhosp.org/usmedical/

Good evening Marissa, thanks for the information. I went to the website you indicated, it appears some updates were made to the system. I was prompted to answer several questions relating to receiving instructions from the embassy, before proceeding to payment. Even when attempting to bypass the system and fudge my response I wasn’t allowed to proceed. Looks like we have to await instructions before moving forward. They either caught on to us, or I’m not doing it right. Either way I’ll try to be patient, Michael says my patience is literally nonexistent and he’s not wrong. Thanks so much for your help!
blank avatar Marissa0704 on 2022-11-02 said:
Lol yeah if feels like we’ve been patient for so long that we are trying to get through the process as quickly as possible. Hopefully you will hear back soon from the embassy and you will be able to schedule the appointment and medical. Please keep me posted when you hear back. Fingers crossed that you get the email this week.

Good morning Marissa, hope all is well with you and Neil. Any word on the visa yet? Michael and I got great news yesterday, the long awaited email arrived. We scheduled both the medical and interview appointments yesterday. Praying we’ll have Christmas in the U.S. this year. We’ve also set a wedding date and I’m smack dab in the middle of getting everything set for a January wedding. We couldn’t be more excited, actually January will bring more excitement. Thanks for your help, much appreciated. Will update you as we go. Have a great day and take care.

Congratulations!! I’m hoping everything moves quickly for your date. As for the visa, nope, no update yet. The NVC website finally changed to approved yesterday and to issued today from application received. We will see what happens the next couple of days. I’m really excited for you guys. You’re almost at the finish line.
blank avatar Pure Joy on 2022-11-04 said:
Thank you!! Sounds like Neil should have his visa any day now. I’m excited for you all, and Congratulations again. We are so looking forward to being where you are. It seems like the embassy is super busy right now, but hoping tomorrow is the day your visa is in hand. Thanks again for your help and continued blessings to you and Neil!!
blank avatar Marissa0704 on 2022-11-07 said:
Really appreciate your kind words! You will be there soon! Also we were able to get his passport back today. It took a little bit longer than expected but I’m hoping it moves faster when you get there.
blank avatar Pure Joy on 2022-11-08 said:
Good morning, congratulations!! I’m so so happy for you all. Neil is all set to travel and must be over the moon excited!! Wishing him safe travels. You all can rest a little easier now. Take care and I’ll let you know how things go with us. God bless you both in love and in life!!
blank avatar Pure Joy on 2023-01-04 said:
Marissa, congratulations! I see you and Neil will be married next Wednesday, I know you’re over the moon excited to finally be Mr & Mrs. Praying you have great day, great weather and all your plans go off without a hitch. Best of luck in love, life and everything in between. Brief update, it seems our journey has not been without drama. We went to the interview, medical results weren’t there even though it had been done almost 3 weeks prior. Come to find out later quite a few people were in the same predicament, Andrews was backlogged. His passport was kept at the interview which was good news. Andrews finally got the medical results to the embassy on Dec 21st, we were approved Dec 23rd and visa issued yesterday. We’re hoping he will have his visa by next week. What a crazy experience we’ve had but God has been faithful through it all, the glory belongs to Him.
blank avatar Marissa0704 on 2023-01-14 said:
Hi Lisa, sorry for the late response!! BIG CONGRATULATIONS!!! Please tell me that he received his visa!! There is no such thing as drama free in this process but with God, it’ll be done. I’m really glad that you’ll be together soon or are together!!! The next step at least you’ll be together and won’t have to worry about waiting apart. It gets easier ❤️
blank avatar Pure Joy on 2023-01-14 said:
Congratulations, you are officially hitched!! How does it feel after all this time? Thank you, we are indeed together. I arrived yesterday and he picked up his visa. We plan to leave Jamaica in a few days. Ironically enough today was supposed to be our wedding day, however we have postponed until May. We haven’t decided when, but we’ll have a civil ceremony next month. We are so relieved to have finally gotten to this place and we are eagerly anticipating what comes next, together. Again many congrats to you and the hubby, enjoy married life, you are officially newlyweds!!!

Hi Lisa, hope you guys are finally in the states or preparing to come back to the states together. You’re almost at the end of what appears to be a never ending finish line :). Trust me, now that you are together, you’ll forget what it was like to be a part and then next part you can wait together. Hope you’re looking forward to finally tying the knot. So happy for the both of you and congratulations!!!

(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
