05/25/21 - Scheduled Interview for 06/24, and Medical exam for 06/14
06/14/21 - Medical Exam and vaccinations completed
06/24/21 - Beneficiary attended the interview. They asked him several questions, a lot of them were surprisingly about the petitioner's job. Like really specific questions about her job. They didn't ask for any additional evidence, they took only the basic required documents from him. The interview went well all the way until the end when the consular officer gave him the packet with his immigrant rights and the 221g requesting additional information. The consular officer told him he needed to answer the questions from the paper she gave him via email and that they will get back to him with a decision a couple of weeks later = AP, administrative processing aka worst nightmare. They also gave him his passport back and original birth certificate. We emailed the embassy with our answers in the afternoon on 6/24, a few hours after the interview, no confirmation or reply.
06/25/21 - Petitioner emailed USEM Warsaw again to ask for a status update on our AP. USEM Warsaw initially replied back confirming they received our additional information email and that they will forward that info to the DOS for a background check. One hour later USEM Warsaw emailed us again and said that they reviewed our case file again and there is no need for an additional background check and asked the beneficiary to present himself at the embassy in the morning of 06/28 so they can issue his visa and stamp in his passport.
06/28/21 - Beneficiary went back to the embassy with his passport. They didn't ask him anything, just took his passport and told him to present himself at the embassy the next day to pick up his passport/visa.
06/29/21 - Beneficiary picked up his passport with his visa!

Thank you so much for the details about your K-1 visa ordeal. Your information is very relevant to our ongoing case as we are also following the Poland route. Our file just left NVC and we were told to wait until we receive the instruction package from USEM. I would be like to take the option of not waiting to get that package as stated in your description. Also, can you advise where in Poland your beneficiary underwent the medical? Thanks and congratulations!

@Jbivan first, you should find out if your physical case arrived in Warsaw, I recommend that the petitioner (US citizen) send the embassy an email with a scan of your renewed letter of intent to marry, 2 weeks after your status in CEAC turns to "Ready". You can write in the email: "Attached is my renewed letter of intent to marry within 90 days of the beneficiary's arrival in the US. Please update our file." If your physical case arrived at the embassy, the embassy will reply with something along the lines of "We will update your file/records", if it did not arrive, they will reply and say that your case is not there yet and therefore they cannot update your file. Shipping should not take more than 2 weeks so it's a fairly safe bet to email them 2 weeks after status turns to "Ready". Once you get some type of confirmation from the embassy that your case arrived, you are safer in scheduling an appointment and can complete the DS-160 and pay the MRV fee. After paying the fee, you can schedule your interview. If the foreign fiance(e) has applied for a US visa in Moscow before (doesn't matter which kind of visa), they should already have a UStraveldocs account. You are expected to use the same account as those accounts are for a lifetime. If she does have an existing account already, you will see when logging in, at the top it will say "in Russia". This account needs to be transferred to Poland after your transfer is approved by Poland and a new case number is assigned to you by the NVC. You can transfer the ustraveldocs account to Poland by calling the USEM in Moscow and telling them you transferred and need your ustraveldocs account transferred to Poland as well. If the beneficiary has never applied for any kind of US visa in Russia before, disregard this entire paragraph. Additionally, there is no way to currently travel straight from Russia to Poland anymore. The only option is to go to Greece for a layover and then buy a separate ticket from Greece to Warsaw. These entry regulations change so fast though, it's in your best interest to check yourself if/when the time comes.

@P&K, I appreciate all your detailed guidance. I'm the beneficiary and my fiancee is from Russia. Although I speak Russian, my fiancee speaks very little to no english and she is worried about being interviewed in english. Can you share what language was your interview conducted? Also, my fiancee has never applied for a US visa at USEM in Moscow, so there would be no need to call to get our case transferred to Poland. We do have our new case number and invoice ID #. Also, how long would it take to get the result of the medical back? From your timeline you had about 10 days before your interview. I'd plan to meet up with my fiancee in Poland and accompany her to the medical but can only spare a week. Would this timeframe suffice? The doctors' offices can be found on the USEM Polish website? correct? I appreciate your help in guiding us through this frustrating visa process. Thanks. Jbivan

@Jbivan ah, so you are actually the petitioner (US citizen) and your fiancee is the Russian beneficiary. The interview and medical were done in English. I know some Belarusians have the chance to request a consul who speaks russian, however I am not aware of any russian transfers having interviews in russian in Poland, only in English. The medical exam can be conducted in Minsk, you just need to contact that office and request an appointment. Another option would be Krakow, or Warsaw. Both Krakow and Warsaw will have medical exams conducted in English, but in Minsk they are probably done in Russian. Results may take anywhere from 3 days to 8 days, it really depends on the office and the doctor's schedule. It's always better to plan for more rather than less time between medical and interview. If your medical results are not ready by the interview date, then you can still attend the interview, however you will have to wait extra time until embassy received results and reviews them. I recommend your fiancee tells the doctor she will pick up the results herself rather than have the doctor mail the results. She can call after 3-5 days after exam is done and ask if results are ready and pick them up in person from the dr's office, then deliver them herself to the embassy at the time of her interview. All medical exam info (contact info for doctors) can be found online, there is a pdf somewhere with the 3 offices and contact info.

@P&K, My Russian beneficiary lives in Russia not Belarussia. We transferred our case from USEM Moscow after 3 months of inaction. I was hoping my fiancee can do the medical somewhere in Moscow or Ekaterinburg, those are the closest places. If that doesn't work out, we will schedule the medical in Warsaw, Poland. We will likely request a consul that speaks Russian. The ceac website showed "ready" and we just got started filling out the DS-160 and other paperwork. We won't be waiting for the instruction package to arrive based on your experience. Thank you for the great suggestions and help. Jbivan

@Jbivan, so sorry for the late response. There is no way to do the medical in Russia if your assigned embassy is in Poland. You can only do the exam in Belarus, or Poland. Minsk, Warsaw, and Krakow have medical offices which provide examinations that are recognized by the US embassy in Warsaw. Congrats on your status turning to Ready! I noticed that starting this week, the embassy has begun to email the instructions package which is great news because mailing is very old-school and inefficient. I hope everything works out for you two!

@P & K, thank you for the response, better late than never. It's discouraging not hearing back from the embassy after several emails. Anyway, It's more than two weeks since our case turned to "ready", so we went ahead and paid the fees and scheduled an interview for September. Also we will undergo the medical in Warsaw. I thank you for your wise counsel and help. Jbivan

Can you provide me with the email address of the USEM, Poland? Not sure why the ones I have don't get replies? Thanks. Jbivan
blank avatar P & K on 2021-08-24 said:
No problem! If they are not replying, most likely it is because your question is already answered somewhere online or because there's no concrete answer to your question that they can provide, i.e case status etc.. Keep in mind they get hundreds of emails every day and they are a very small embassy accommodating citizens from 3 countries. They change their emails frequently, but I think these two are the best to reach out to: 1. immigrantvisaswarsaw@state.gov and 2. support-poland@ustraveldocs.com

@P&K, thank you for the clarification. I now understand the silence from the embassy. I appreciate all your guidance/help. My fiancee and I have scheduled the interview for the last week of September although we are not totally sure if the US embassy actually received our physical files. We tried all avenue to verify this, unfortunately all to no avail. Just hoping for the best when we get to Poland for the interview!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
