Comments : We received the email on 23-May-2022 about the US Consulate Interview at Mumbai on 14-July-2022. This Visa petition was for my mother aged 66 years old. She is currently living with my sister in Saudi Arabia. So I had to arrange for her to travel to Mumbai and I also travelled to Mumbai to assist her as she has difficulty walking and is generally comfortable on wheelchair. I assumed that the Medical will go through fine and scheduled a Medical Appointment at Rele Clinic in Mumbai on 11-July-2022. My mother attended the Medical Appointment and took the shots she was missing and also did the Chest X-Ray. When the report/ results of the chest X-Ray came in - the Medical Officer said there were complications and ordered additional tests (Sputum Culture) and informed us on the same day that we will not be able to attend the Interview on 14-July-2022 and once we perform the tests - we need to go back home and wait for the results which will take 10-12 weeks. We were told to give the Sputum Culture at Lilavathi Hospital and they would forward the results to Rele Clinic and the cost would be borne by Rele Clinic (and of course by US Consulate). We attended our time of Finger Printing on 13-July-2022 and also proceeded to the US Consulate for Interview on 14-July-2022. I was allowed inside with my mother as she was on wheelchair and she needed assistance. I showed my US Passport (Note: They said that if she is needing assistance then anyone is allowed and it need not be just a US Passport holder). We were taken to the Counter where the Indian Officer first examined our documents and then said that the Medical Officer has said that the Interview cannot be done so we need to go back and wait till the Medical Reports clear. We requested the Officer that we have come from far and coordinated so much for the journey and if it would be possible that we take the interview so that this is also completed. And then the decision can await the Medical Officer's Report. But the Indian Officer said that the system will not allow him to send us inside so we need to go back. We requested him to check our documents at least so that they are all fine. He listed the documents needed and saw them and said they are ok. We returned back with a heavy heart. But this is our story. So we wait till end of October for the results from the Sputum Culture (where they are ruling out Tuberculosis).

My mom repeated her Medical this year in Mumbai in May 2023 and the Rele Clinic (Mumbai) people made her repeat the Sputum Tests for 3 consecutive Days and cancelled our Consular Interview which was 3 days after the Medical Exam. They said that if Sputum Tests were done in the first Medical Test - it has to be repeated if the Medical Report expired. Fast Forward to August 2023 when she received her results that ALL CLEAR. We then checked for an Interview Date on the new Consular Website for India - https://www.usvisascheduling.com/en-US/ and were able to get an Interview at Mumbai for 11 Oct 2023. Interview was successful. Our Immigrant Visa Category was changed to Medical IR5 category. She received the Passport by Premier Courier on 18 Oct 2023. NOTE: Expiry Date on the Visa was 27-Oct-2023. We flew to USA on 23-Oct-2023. We paid the 220$ online for the Green Card Processing and received another USCIS Receipt Number online. In USA - we received the SSN within a week (as we had ticked that option in the I-130 form we had submitted). Also - we had a follow-up from City Health Department to redo the Chest X-Ray and Blood Tests for my mom. They said that the tests done in Mumbai are not satisfactory and seems to be blown out of proportion. Green-Card status shows as being PRINTED. Hopefully we will receive it soon.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
