Tirana embassy received the document and scheduled an interview - 12/30/2022
Embassy interview - 2/9/2022( Interview was super easy. The interviewer asked for evidence of relationship and 5 questions.)
K1 visa and packet received - 2/17/2022
Arrival in SFO-3/14/2022 ( Port of entry officer was super friendly. She kept the package from the embassy. She asked about how we met, stamp the passport, and said welcome to America)
3/23/2022- Requested SSN at (Roseville, CA) office- SSN was denied because we are not married ( We need to be married to get an SSN at this location) ( Depend on the location, it might have different requirements but they will never tell you anything over the phone ( at least when we call )).
4/18/2022-went to the SSN office ( Roseville, CA) again with our married certificate, and SSN was approved. The officer at the SSN office was so nice and we were there in less than 10 minutes.
4/22/2022- received SSN in the mail ( was told that SSN will take about 2-4 weeks so we were very thankful)
DMV was a nightmare to deal with but we were successful in the end. Please do not give up and go to another DMV.
Real ID- valid to 6/11/2022 ( apply for Real ID within 2 weeks of arrival to America, provided all the documents, and wait for SAVE verification and call legal presence when we didn't receive the ID in 2 weeks. after we call, the guy on the phone said "no problem, everything is good" then we get a Real ID less than one week after.
Real ID/DL - valid to 6/11/2022
4/29/2022 Permit test passed- was told to come back to take the driving test after EAD/Greencard ( but EAD and Greencard might take a long time during Covid situation)
4/29/2022- Call legal issuance number at DMV- The lady who works in the Sacramento office said that CA requires EAD/Greencard but we can try AB60 since we are between status and the DMV office will be able to rekey everything.
5/2/2022- Roseville, CA DMV- Ask about AB60 driving license due to in-between status, the lady just denied us right away and said we don't have sufficient documents but when we ask what document they need, she said she doesn't know. we show them everything and it wasn't enough. We asked to speak to a manager but she refused.
5/2/2022- Rocklin, CA DMV- The person at DMV was very understanding, just retook the fingerprint and extend the permit for a year. All they need was Proof of residency, marriage certificate, and passport.
5/4/2022- Driving test and passed
5/11/2022- received a driver's license in the mail, the driver's license is valid for till 2026.

Hi! I'm also curious about your EAD. Did you expedite it at all?

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
