Hi Kiara1ag's, Hope you are well and congrats on your approval. We have the similar situation and I wanted to ask you. Looks like it took 14 months for you to get a visa interview from the day your I-130 was documentarily qualified, is that correct? It has been 10 months for us and we are still waiting for our interview date in Juarez. Do you know or heard any latest news how long it is taking for visa interview to be scheduled from the day of documentarily qualified? Thank you very much for your reponse.

Thank you! As far as I know there isn’t really a way to know when you will get an interview but I had an idea of when I would. What I did is I went back to the date we were DQ’d and checked the number of cases to be processed which was about 450,000 then (Dec 2 2021) then I subtracted the number of cases with an interview per month based on the backlogs and kinda divided the average from the original number 450k and got a total amount of months that I had left for an interview to be available. I hope that makes sense and if not I can try to help do the math

Wow, this is genius. Immigration attorneys should use this method to get ballpark timeline for their clients. Thank you very much for sharing this. Truly appreciate it. I am gonna try to do the math and see what I come up with. :)

Hi Kiara1ag, Hope you are well. I wanted to ask where i could find the latest cases that being processed so i could do my math you suggested to come up with my estimated wait time? Our case was DQ'ed July 25th, 2022 so it has been 10 months, I am thinking we might have a couple of more months to go, fingers crossed. Thank you :)

Ok so it’s actually called the visa backlogs and every month there is a report on how many cases are pending I did an estimate of you dq date as of end of June there where 426,486 cases pending I went to every month report up to date June 2022 to may 2023 and subtract # of visas scheduled for appointments of every month so to may 2023 your number of pending visas is 76,120 I estimate that there are about 30,000 visa interviews scheduled per month so 76,120 divided by 30K is 2.5 which is the months until interview date and to what I have seen everyone is notified about 2 months prior to interview so I would say you will be getting the email notification anytime now 1-2 weeks at latest 3 weeks from now I hope that my math is accurate and good luck!

Btw this is for ciudad Juárez interviews Also interview is still a 2 day program we did a total of 5 nights and I was so surprised at how many ppl were not aware of this before o was prepared and booked hotel before but many ppl did not and had to be looking elsewhere for nights I organized one day to look around before interviews we stayed right next door at mesaluna it was the best decision we didn’t one day medical exam one day for finger prints and pictures one day for turning in documents to consulate (interview date) and next day is actual interview consulate is closed on weekends so if first interview is Friday the second will be until Monday so be prepared for that

This is amazing! Thank you very much Kiara, you have been super helpful, cant thank you enough for taking your time doing the math for me. My wife lives in Mexico city and the consulate website says that we can get the medicals done in Mexico city, there is special hospital there, so I'm happy for this part that we don't wonder around in Juarez for this. Thank you for the Mesaluna suggestions, we will definitely book that place.

@Villa Coapa hello any updates?

@Kiara1ag Hi there, no unfortunately no updates yet. I have been checking the CEAC every morning, nothing new. I even contacted a lawyer from San Diego who has some clients dealing with Juarez consulate. He said the same thing that on average it is taking 12-14 months to get visa scheduled and ours should be close, about in July, August. We will see. I will keep you posted. Thanks for checking. :)

Hi @Kiara1ag, We have received our interview scheduled for August. It finally came through. Now we are preparing for the interview process. I have been reading what questions the consulate officer asks. Looks like most of them are straightforward. But in your case, did they ask you any unexpected questions? I welcome any suggestions you have for the interview prep. Thank you so much :)

HI Kiara1ag, Hope you are well. I wanted to ask you about a couple of things #1 You mentioned that the interviews are 2 day process. Our email we received says the interview is on August 15th (which is on Tuesday), does that mean we need to be there for submitting the documents on August 14th? or the date of the interview August 15th is the document submission date and August 16th will be the actual interview? #2 Do they ask more or other documents what we have actually submitted to NVC? Im hearing they ask tax returns, police certificates (renewed one) etc? #3 Do you know if possible to travel back and forth to Mexico once you immigrate to the US with IR1 visa and while waiting for the green card? My wife still works in Mexico and we are planning to keep her job for another 6 months and she will have to travel back and forth. Thank you very much for all your answers. Hope to hear from you soon :)

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
