Consulate Review: Nigeria
Review Topic: General Review
Event Description
Review Date : March 17, 2021
Embassy Review : Our first appointment was meant to be to take place Jan 12, 2021 however a week to the time we were rescheduled to Feb 3rd and later March 15, 2021 at 6:30am

I got to the consulate at 6:15am and joined the queue.at about past 8am I was called to be interviewed and the consular officer was kind. He asked who was my pettitioner, if we had ever been married before and said it must be difficult being married for the first and not be with your spouse. I smiled and acknowledged it.
He said a mail will be sent to me in few days. The next day I got a mail that my passport was ready for pickup

Hello, was wondering if you could share some details with me.

Which of the stages precisely?
blank avatar OlaCha on 2020-06-25 said:
Guess you're talking about the NVC stage. The NVC stage begins once you receive the welcome letter from NVC, the petitioner goes ahead to pay 2 fees which is the affidavit of support $120 and immigrant application fee $325. NVC sends a notification that they have received the fees. The petitioner needs to fill the affidavit of support but one of the documents needed to fill the Affidavit of support is the tax statement from the IRS website this will enable the government know the petitioner can support you. Kindly note that this is different from the tax returns. We filled the DS-260 form. All civil documents were scanned. I got a police Certificate from Nigeria stating I had a clean slate in Nigeria. It has to be gotten from the Central Criminal registry at alagbon Lagos. Finally everything were scanned and submitted to NVC

Omg,yes thank you so much. Also have you had the interview yet?
blank avatar CynOka on 2020-06-25 said:
Kinda worried about the travel ban.

Once I'm scheduled for an interview I'll update my page. Mostly it takes between 2-3 months for an interview to be scheduled, it may occur sooner than that. Also remember the US Consulate here in Nigeria is closed due to the pandemic. For the travel ban you have nothing to worry, everything will go on well.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
