04/02/2025 -MEDICAL-
I arrived at the Varelli center at 6:25 and I was first on line; as other have said at the Varelli it's first arrived-first served. Everyone was very kind and understanding ??; I am horrified of blood exams and the nurse was kind and distracted me while she did her magic ?. After blood your blood exam, I got called for a photo and they asked me about my vaccines (bring your ASL documentation!).
After that we were allowed to go to take a coffee because a doctor was slightly late (10 minutes) and we went to have our x-rays done ?. If you are a girl don't forget to wear a thin white strap shirt (maglietta intima) because they ask girls to remove even the bra.
It was so fast like a minute thing.
Then they told me to go upstairs and had my final check: blood pressure, heart beat, vision test (I have glasses and they let me keep them on), I also have few sever allergies and they wrote them all down!
10 minutes and then I was good to go!
I paid the visit right after the vaccines check; the gentleman who took my vaccines info was really funny and kind, he helped me out so much. I'm really grateful ?.
Done in nearly 2 hours.
04/03/2025 -INTERVIEW-
The big day.
I was so nervous ?; I suggest you to go to the "il salotto della Regina" because it's really close to the consulate and the staff is so kind (I had to print some documents and they were really kind and did it ??).
I had the appointment at 8:55 however I went to the consulate by 7:30 and again I was first in line-
The guards are okay and nice if you behave politely; I left my phone and headset in my hotel room however I didn't remove my power bank (?????very nervous and train wreck person).
There, they gave me a visitor token and a little ticket with a number.
I went inside and I waited at the second floor that has nice American documents and decorations; it looks like the love child of Poste Italiane and an American small airport -
At 8:30 I was called in a small room to get my documents checked and my finger prints taken.
A polite gentleman asked me the following documents:
- Birth certificate (estratto di nascita is also okay!)
- Wedding certificate
- IRS taxes and W-2 of my hubby (I had both)
- Police records
Then asked me the following questions:
- who petitioned me
- what does my hubby do for a living
- where does he live
We chatted normally about my relationship with my hubby; I was nervous and while he was sorting things out I told him how my husband and I are. He was very kind and told me to wait a bit in the waiting room.
After 25-30 minutes I was called from the Consule himself (he called out the number) and made me swear to say the truth and only the truth.
He asked me:
- who petitioned me
- since how long I am married with my hubby
- where we got married
- if I lived anywhere else
- what my hubby does for a living
- if I have a job
- where does my hubby live
- how much he makes in a year
- if I ever had issues with police officers at the port of entry
- if I ever had issues in general with the law
- if I ever had any other visa
- if I entered the USA only with ESTA
- If I ever overstayed my ESTA time
We joked about a bad work situation I have here in Italy and told him what I'd like to work as once I get in America and with a smile he said that everything was looking appropriate and I was approved.
I asked him if I could go and he said absolutely yes and to have a nice pizza to celebrate ?!
My suggestion is to be always yourself and be truthful. ?
