Consulate Review: United Arab Emirates
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : February 8, 2021
Embassy Review : The embassy process was very smooth and fast, Myself and other applicants for K1 visa interview on the same day hardly spent 30 minutes before all our interview was completed. I guess the COVID rules plays some roles to limit the waiting time and the process. Thank Allah (God) we made it through successfully.

Hello, good luck to you! Please, I'll like to make some enquiries regarding your Visa process and how it's been so far. I'll be glad if you'll be willing to have a little time for me. Thank you

Hello, Please ask the question I will be glad to reply your questions

Okay. Thanks! I'll like to enquire: If you suggest a Cr1 or K1 Visa at the moment as a Nigerian considering the Ban and all.. Secondly, can I have my interview overseas or it has to be in Nigeria (Home country)? Because I'm currently not in my country. And I'll also like to know if you have any suggestions for me. I really appreciate you for your help. Thanks!

The Ban did not affect either Cr1 or K1 there is ''Presidential Proclamation'' that did not affect some US citizen spouse, family, adopted children or children. The ban majorly affect like investors and working visa. (for more information, you can look this up on YouTube or US visa website page) You can have your interview abroad if you live there, like me I live in UAE and I will be having mine in UAE, however, you will need Police clearance from Nigeria and all other countries you have lives before - That only needed after your petition has been approved and ready for visa interview. My suggestion, is that individual circumstance will determine what kind of visa you should go for this time and the possibility of having chances in one from another as currently the processing time for both Cr1 and K1 is almost the same. Wishing you all the best

Hi Ola MK - Please can you educate me on how you were able to get an interview for your K1 visa? I would like to do an expedited interview for my fiancee for medical and emotional reasons. Any hint will be appreciated. Thank you!
blank avatar WHYnow on 2020-11-20 said:
@Prave, your timeline shows you already had Visa Interview March, 2020. if that's correct is there any reason they have not return the passport? Kindly let me know which of the stages you wanted to expedite. Thank you
blank avatar Prave on 2020-11-20 said:
Thanks, Ola MK for your response. Unfortunately, my interview was cancelled at the last minute in the wake of the COVID-19. So, I'm yet to do my interview and I understand that K1 visa is not being processed at the moment. Just wondering if you were able to expedite your case. Hope to hear back from you.

Just to clarify, it's the interview stage that I'm at - waiting to be interviewed.
blank avatar WHYnow on 2020-11-21 said:
In that case you have to rebook appointment that's what people whose appointments were canceled are doing now. In my case, I never book initial appointment but i received email from embassy in September saying my appointment has been canceled due to covid and inform me to check back again for reappointment in starting from November. even as of end of sept, my packet 3 has not arrive at embassy but i went ahead to book appointment, only one date available for i decided to pick it. i get all necessary docs ready, I only wait for packet 3 before i do my medical, as per the embassy in UAE they did not request me to send my documents for the packet 3, instead I was asked to come with it on my interview date (I guess more than sufficient has been submitted during our I-129F filling. That's the process we use.

Thanks for the information. If I understand you correctly, your interview was at the US Embassy in UAE. If that was the case, then the information may not be relevant as I thought you did your interview at the US Consulate in Lagos. My fiancee's case is at the Lagos office. Thank you for the time to explain the process you went through. Wish you the very best.

Hello. Happy new year and I wish you the best in this new year! I'll like to ask if I can apply for a Cr1 visa, as a foreigner (Nigerian) in Ukraine getting married to an American here or do we have to go to my country of origin to do that? We're both currently in Ukraine. Thank you in advance
blank avatar WHYnow on 2021-02-05 said:
Hi Sammie, you can get married in Ukraine as long as your marriage certificate is translated and attested plus Notarize in Ukraine, Nigeria Embassy or Ministry of Foreign Affair. Thats what I know but its also better to post it in the forum so you can benefits from many people comments.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
