Comments : Interview at the Portland field office. Officer Ramirez presided and was professional and very courteous. Asked me (petitioner) about our relationship as he typed away. Asked my wife (beneficiary) specific questions my DOB, parents name, city of birth, our address, etc. Asked her several "No" questions regarding criminal history, espionage, etc. from the application's list of such questions. Showed him pictures of our relationship since entering the US and turned over additional evidence of relationship, updated lease agreement, bank statements, etc. He then said he still had to run a background check but did not see any problems with the application and would likely approve it later in the afternoon.

Event Description
Review Date : September 21, 2020
Embassy Review : Zaichik moi had her interview today and it went swimmingly well. I am leaving a 5 star review to rate her experience with the interview itself; but leading up to it was a horrendous experience.

It started in March, I (petitioner) had flown to be present at her interview. The day before our interview date, the embassy called her and cancelled it due to the Corona epidemic blowing up. We were devastated... no matter how we begged and pleaded, they refused to interview her. We wasted so much time, money and effort. I had to fly back to the US before they closed down the airports. For the next six months, there was no movement on our case and every inquiry was met with vague responses of resuming asap but at an unknown date. It was incredibly frustrating.

At the beginning of September, the Dept of State issued a notice that K1's would be given priority (presumably because lawsuits were being organized against them) and soon after, they called her asked if she was available to interview Sept 21. She immediately accepted it and was given further instructions. Medical expiration was extended by one month, so as long as she enters the US before mid October, we won't need a new medical appointment.

The interview itself was a breeze. She showed up 20 minutes before, was escorted inside. There was one person ahead of her. The kind middle aged blonde lady welcomed her in accented Russian/Ukrainian and requested she speak in English for the interview. We had been anticipating this as we were informed by someone else the week before that their interview had to be conducted in English only as well. She was asked about her relationship with me, the times we met, what we had in common, and within 15 minutes she was approved. We are both so ecstatic! Finally, after all this time... Now onto the next step, getting her here safely!
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
