Port of Entry Review
Event Date
Port of Entry : Vancouver
POE Date : 2007-06-07
Got EAD Stamp : No
Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : It took 10 minutes to do the paper work. Vancouver airport is very quiet in the evening (most flights leave in the morning) so if you can try to book an evening flight into the U.S. There was only one other person in secondary (which is where you go to activate your visa). In that area it is first come first served. So getting there early, or going at a quite time should make the process go smoothly. Also, customs didn't need me to fill out any special forms for my suitcases.

Consulate Review: Vancouver, Canada
Review Topic: K3 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 9, 2007
Embassy Review : The interview was about 10 minutes and very conversational. Basic questions about how did we meet, how long did we date, when did we marry, why were you attracted to her, where will you settle, what do you plan to do in the U.S. Why did you choose the U.S. over having your wife immigrate to Canada.
Both of the other K interviewees that day had problems because they did not have originals of key documents (divorce certificates and police certificates).
For my case I was approved on the spot and told to return that afternoon.
Other useful things: Even though there is a line up for "visa applicants" go directly to the security guard and tell them you are there for a "K Visa appointment" You jump to the head of the line and go right to your interview room. Remember to do it when you pick up the visa as well (in the afternoon there is a line for people picking up their visas). Basically just tell anyone official looking that you are there for a K visa and you get "special treatment".
Also, you only need one Canada Wide police certificate. The checklist is a bit vague (it says a police certificate for everywhere you have lived for more than six months since the age of 16). But the RCMP certificate covers all of Canada. One of the other interviewees had gone to 5 different RCMP outlets - one for each town he had lived in. At $50 a pop that is a lot of money wasted.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
