Port of Entry Review

Port of Entry : Washington DC
POE Date : 2020-03-12
Got EAD Stamp : No
Biometrics Taken :
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : Everyone was really friendly and actually pretty relaxed, considering I travelled one day before the travel ban from the Schengen Area went into effect.

Had to wait 1 hour in the customs line, then I was sent to secondary because the officer didn't know how to process the visa. Waited there for another 30-40 minutes. Was not asked any questions and told I was good to go.

Consulate Review: Frankfurt, Germany
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 10, 2020
Embassy Review : Our interview was on 01/31/20 and the time was scheduled for 8:00 am. My fiancé and I arrived 30 minutes early, but we were let in. I have read about cases where people had to wait until the scheduled time, but that did not seem to be the case with us.

As many have written before, you first have to register and then you will be sent to a window where they take your passport etc. Then, you receive a number and have to wait a bit, until you are called to another window, where they compare your data and make sure your name etc. is correct. I had a different birth name then my current name since my parents married when I was a child, so they asked me about that, but it was no problem since I had a document proving the name change.

Our interview took around 5-10 minutes. Our officer was friendly, but not as hyper friendly as some people have described.
The questions were:

When did you meet?
Did you live abroad?
How long did you stay in the US? (I had done a voluntary service in the US for 2 years.)
How did your relationship develop?
What exactly is your age difference? (Weird question, that's obviously in the i129f.)
What do your parents think about that?
Do you want children?
Are you pregnant?

I am sure there were more questions, but I cannot remember.
Anyway, the officer informed us he intended to approve the visa once my medical came in.

I received my visa on 02/27/20.

Rating : Good

Are you able to share what documents you provided for expedited EAD?
blank avatar Clumsyalchemist on 2020-09-01 said:
I expedited because of severe financial loss and since I had a job offer. I sent in a cover letter explaining the situation, my job offer on company letter head paper, husband's tax transcript, a marriage certificate and documents proving my recent college degree since that was part of my reasoning.

Good luck for your interview! Can you let me know how it goes? I had my interview two days ago and despite being verbally approved still haven't seen any change in online case status.

Which service center were y'all assigned?
blank avatar Clumsyalchemist on 2023-02-14 said:
We were assigned YSC, which is Potomac I think. Right now, the processing time is supposed to be 26.5 months... xD But I don't mind waiting.

Same as me. Could you add that info to your timeline please? It could be helpful for other filers!
blank avatar Clumsyalchemist on 2023-02-14 said:
Thank you for making me aware of that field in the timeline! :) I somehow didn’t see it, so I added it now.

Awesome - thanks! Good luck with your application! I'd love to see SOMEONE from Potomac at least get biometrics taken...

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
