For our K1 adjustment to Green Card, we had a great experience at the interview. We're very thankful and lucky that we had our interview a few days before they closed the offices because of COVID-19.
We arrived early and got called maybe 10 minutes after our appointment time. As the citizen sponsor, I was called first and was asked several questions about our relationship, marriage, family. She asked to see the documents I brought and I highlighted a few important ones (joint accounts, bills, photos with familiy, etc.). The officer was typing as I answered and it took about 30 minutes before the officer asked to bring in my wife. Said that it was ok for me to stay but that I couldn't speak and let my wife answer the questions  She was asked similar questions, also had to answer the long list of Yes/No questions. It took maybe another 20 minutes.
After that we went back and they called my step-son. He's 20 so he went alone. That took only about 10 minutes mostly focused on the Yes/No questions and quick relationship questions. At the end, the officer told us the supervisor needed to review but it would likely be approved. We asked if we could get a stamp because my wife was eager to get her driver's license and start working. They agreed to give us the stamp! We got the physical card 5 days later in the mail. Overall it was a great experience. |
