Embassy Review : I arrived at the US Embassy 40 minutes before the scheduled interview time. Of course I had to wait outside, but me being the 2nd in line had the advantage of finishing earlier. The security in front was friendly, they first asked me to show my passport and the interview appointment letter and told me to wait.

After waiting, we were told to go into the building for the interview.

On the first window, I was asked to hand in the documents: Original passport, birth certificate (original & photocopy), and translation (if it’s bilingual, the CO said no need for the translation), 2 US passport style photos, original CIMB receipt, DS-160 confirmation page, I-134, W2, and 1040. This is where it was weird, in the email from Embassy, we were not told to bring 1040 tax return, instead it was listed that we needed to bring just the latest IRS Tax Transcript and W2. Luckily, I brought the 1040 so my documents were complete. The two others who I talked to during that time didn’t even know what that was, and got refused under 221(g). They said the CO insisted that it was asked... It’s a little bit concerning that they changed the rule at the very last minute.

After I submitted all documents, the same CO handed out a copy of my medical exam result and an orange pamphlet that you should read. After another 30 minutes of waiting, I was called to the second window to do the interview. It was a different CO, very friendly. The interview went fairly fast and straightforward. Firstly he was looking at the documents that we submitted to USCIS. After asking a few questions he asked to see my evidence of relationship folder and briefly went through our pictures. I was asked these questions:
1. How did you meet your fiancé?
2. Where is his address in the US?
3. Have you been to the US?
4. Was he ever married? Were you?
5. Has he met your family?
6. Is he a Yankees fan, he wears that hat a lot. (lol)
7. When are you planning to marry? (I just answered that I’m planning to go on March and get married within a few weeks after arriving)

At the end he congratulated me and handed me the approval letter! It was one of the best feelings ever.

I had my interview on 1/14, CEAC website changed to “Administrative Processing” on 1/15, changed to “Issued” on 1/16 and at the same night I got an email notification saying that my visa packet was already retrieved from the Embassy, and I got my visa on hand on 1/17! I’m glad that it was a quick last process.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
