Comments : We had to call the embassy everyday until we found out when our interview was scheduled. And very glad because the papers did not arrive until less than a week from the interview date. And it takes 5 days to get the medical results back, and 10 days for the Judicial Nacional Nivel, so we passed the interview, but must wait for the Judicial paper before receiving the printed Visa. My packet of papers here in the USA did not arrive until the interview date was already here! But they were not necessary, I already filled out those forms from VJ, thanks guys. Hopefully within the month Silvana will be here in the states with me.(P.S. All the forms are contradictory and the I-864 they would not accept over the I-134 affadavit of support, even though the Lima embassy website said the I-864 was sufficient. So fill out all the EXACT forms they ask for in the letter, even though it does not make sense with all the forms being Immigrant and Non-Immigrant mixed headings.

Comments : Sorry, But what an A**HOLE the interviewer was. Made us both feel like criminals and proceeded to insult our intelligence. We were not nervous going to this AOS interview, as it is here on my home turf, but it was the most horrid thing we'd been through yet. He spoke fluently in spanish and english, Silvana only speaks a few words of english, and the interviewer would not speak to her in her native tongue, so i had to translate for him. During and after the interview I was thinking of going to live in Peru if this is how the government is going to treat 2 model people. We were approved for 2 year residence. I think only because the guy knew I was very angry at him and kept my cool and also has everything requested and in perfect order, he had NO reason to deny, but oh did he want to I could see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice. BE PREPARED for a more detailed examination than the VISA ITSELF of your relationship.

Event Description

Embassy Review : We arrived at the embassy 1 hour early. And entered rather quickly, the interview was for 8:30 a.m., we entered the office around 8 a.m. They called us up to a window to ask for some forms and proof our marriage is bonafide. Then the woman asked Silvana some questions about us, and told us we needed to fill out another D-156 form, so she gave us a letter to return back in an hour. We returned with the form filled out and gave that back to the lady at the window. Then she told us we needed another Judicial Nacional Nivel certificate(the one we had was not nacional). But that takes 10 days to clear, so they told us to sit down, and about half an hour later called us to the interview room for the official interview. The man there asked us questions about our wedding and how we met, and asked about our pregnancy loss(he had the photo of our ecografia of the baby when it was fine) Then gave us a yellow letter that stated we needed the Judicial certificate still, and that when they receive that in the mail along with Silvanas passport, they would print the visa for us. This man was kind and friendly and spoke better english than spanish. I asked him why they needed that form when Silvana has nothing else on her record of any kind, he said it is just policy for the exact forms. And I also asked the gentleman why some of the forms are headed with "Non-Immigrant Application" when we are applying for Immigrant Visa K3. He did not have an answer for that, and just told us there are too many people in government making too many forms that go to different places for processing. The people in the embassy honestly do not give a rats ass how much money it costs you or how long you are kept apart from your spouse by their rules. All they want is paper and money. I went to the embassy the next day to speak with the consul, and to get a statement sworn from them, and after much fuss and hassle they let me enter the embassy while Silvana waited outside. I did speak with the vice-consul and he told me that there is nothing that can be done to print the visa right now, or more rapidly, and lucky I did not need a notary there, they charge 30 bucks, American currency. All in all we were not denied the visa, just delayed a couple weeks, but the embassy is not very helpful, do not expect too much from them, being a citizen of the USA does not mean much there either. The USA is failing miserably in the immigration department.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
