Comments : Like those who came before us, we were elated and frankly just relieved to have the "approval" notice in hand and knowing that our efforts over the past 8 months has gone in our favor. We were blessed to find that the interviewer, at the final step, was a pretty woman who had a beautiful, broad smile on her face, which emanated calmness and welcome so much so, as to put our hearts at ease. With that, she asked if I was the petitioner, for which I replied I was, and then she asked me to please have a seat and she would call me if she needed me. From there, I thought to myself, thank you for placing such a kind person in front of us to calm us and to handle the final step of the process in Mumbai.
My partner related that she asked the usual questions that most here have reported. Who calls you, where is he from, how did you meet and then asked to see a few more documents such as call logs, emails, pictures...the usual, the whole time smiling with a friendly demeanor that had a calming and assuring affect. From the gallery seating section, I was reading the body language (or trying to) and knowing him as only I do, I felt good about how everything was progressing until Neel finally turned, papers in hand... waved the approved slip. My heart was so full of joy and relief at that moment it brought tears to my eyes...happy, wonderful tears that this was finally done...for now. I can't actually describe the feeling inside, but for those who have gone before us and for which this process was long and arduous , well, you know what I mean! It was truly exhilarating!

We will now go back to the hotel, relax, have a nice dinner and spend the next 4 days together planning our future with more certainty.

My only tip for those who still to meet this end, please try and relax (and I know it's so difficult) but like the couples who have said before me, be confident and true to who you are and follow your heart when offering the remarks to the questions. Soon you will sail through the interview and most likely will end up with a positive outcome as well. I wish you all the very best in life ahead. Namaste...Chipper52

Hi I can see that you got an RFE. Can u plz tell what is the reason for RFE?
blank avatar Chipper1952 on 2019-08-06 said:
I had not submitted "certified" disposition for long past DUI's I had in the 90's. I showed something from "record finders.com" which does a search for your criminal records... and if any, you can print out, however this was not good enough. So had to contact the municipal courts to obtain certified copies (from an official at the court) showing the charges and final disposition on all convictions and I had cleared all with the courts.

blank avatar GSKhanuja on 2019-09-09 said:
Hi... Did u submit any letter of intent that u will get married to your fiancé within 90 days of entering the US?
blank avatar Mishty on 2019-09-09 said:
Yes but I had submitted with only my signature.. I need his too and they asking ongoing communication and wedding preparations?
blank avatar GSKhanuja on 2019-09-09 said:
You both need to submit the letter of intent with your respective letters and signatures also you can send some screenshots of chats and skype calls to prove an ongoing relation...for wedding preparations you can take a marriage license from US court house for whatever date you think you guys would want to get married. Are u the petitioner?
blank avatar Mishty on 2019-09-09 said:
Yes I am the petitioner and the marriage date how I can take even though when he will be here or just whatever date I can decide?
blank avatar Mishty on 2019-09-09 said:
Even though I don’t know when he will be here *
blank avatar GSKhanuja on 2019-09-09 said:
You can choose any date for next year as his visa will be valid for 6 months and you have a time of 3 months to get married once he enters to the US...so u guys can estimate accordingly that which date we should choose to get married and take a marriage license for that date.
blank avatar Mishty on 2019-09-09 said:
Ok got it thank you so much . I appreciate it

Hey hi, I was gonna ask you one more thing that they also asked me my financial support but I don’t have any tax payer for last 3 years since I didn’t work so what should I do?
blank avatar GSKhanuja on 2019-09-10 said:
Hi How are they asking about the financials at this point? I am little confused about your RFE. Can u attach a copy of your RFE?
blank avatar Mishty on 2019-09-11 said:
Yeah it’s wired. I don’t know how to attach a copy here but they asked me evidence for intent to marry, such as ongoing relationship, ring ceremony pic, family aware of relationship, financial support that’s all they asked me.
blank avatar GSKhanuja on 2019-09-11 said:
Ok...maybe you should consider consulting an immigration lawyer for your case. But you can always take a co- sponsor if you are not able to meet income requirement. I see that you have not been earning for the past 3 years and just started working now so in that case you can get a letter from your employer stating that when u started working and how much make a year.
blank avatar Mishty on 2019-09-11 said:
I see.. Thanks a lot

How did u receive a packet 4 from embassy?
SugarB on 2019-11-01 said:
We will have same interview date 😬
blank avatar Chipper1952 on 2019-11-01 said:
Packet four place just filled in automatically when I put in the interview date yesterday. I believe it's confirming they emailed me the appointment date along with DS 160 confirmation number we had used to make the interview and biometric date. That's my best guest, as I didn't enter anything there, it came in there after I put in date that consulate received application from NVC and CEAC responded "ready". But not sure I could answer your question.
blank avatar Chipper1952 on 2019-11-01 said:
Yep!...Hope to see you there. It was really a miracle ...lol, there was one last appointment offered in December when we logged on for 7:15. Never saw any other day in December available,,,so we were happy to get it trying to complete before the holidays! Congrats to you and all the best...Chip

blank avatar Chipper1952 on 2020-01-25 said:
Ashu25...petitioner is allowed in Consulate in Mumbai and is asked to sit in gallery while beneficiary is interviewed at a window. The interviewer did say she would call me up if she had any questions for me, but she did not. She was extremely nice and personable. Chipper52

Just to let those following the timelines know what's happening...About a week ago Neel received word his Mom was diagnosed with 2nd stage renal tumor and she hasn't been doing at all good. Being so very close to his family and all the love there, he had to catch a plane back to India 10 days after arriving and only 4 days before our wedding day on Friday, Valentine's Day. needless to say, it's been very devastating. We didn't have a advanced parole in place, it was all such an emergency and so fast, but there was no way we would take a chance of her passing before he got there...I mean, that's how bad the situation may be. We are praying things will get better. But he will try at a later date to go to Embassy there to apply for returning resident visa with medical evidence, but we may have to start this process all over. I believe right now God has other plans for us...I am sad but of course I am praying and hoping for the best outcome all around. Best to all on Visa journey, Chipper

We are so sorry to hear about the situation. I hope everything will be better soon and he will be back with you very soon.

Just an update to inform all how disgusted I am not only with this whole process, but how really inhumane and uncaring it really can be! After posting the emergency problem we had with Neel's mother's stage 2 kidney cancer and his leaving to get back to India before the borders closed (which they did in and out of India) and get back to his mother's side before her expiring, having written to the head Field officer at the US Consulate in Delhi everything I said has fallen on cold hearts! I have written to several of the organizations and agencies about our dilemma and pretty much all I got was "sorry" , "tough luck", "better off next time", "can't help". I wonder what all the money and time and background checks are for when in the course of all this, (over a year) because an act of GOD we didn't have an advance parole in place on account even expedited it would have taken weeks to obtain and there just wasn't the time, it was deemed "too bad" for us! What kind of humanitarian compassion has this banded together people we call a GOVERNMENT, come to? To not understand the family dynamics and connection and life or death, and love that 2 people have for one another, and not being able to put them all together other than to tell us nothing other than the rules were broke? We never had malice or criminality in our hearts. We never planned this. The virus was not in our control, nor was the cancer that Neel's mother contracted and how ill she became. Thank God it was not all in vain and she is still alive bit still very ill. But to tell us that not one instance can be made on account of the circumstance is outrageous and is shameful. If we had haphazardly just missed dates or it was on account of laziness or ineptitude, maybe I might be able to understand. But things were beyond our control. MR Sherman, the head Field officer replied we may as well go back to the beginning and start all over...because of what? A loving family bond? What is the K1 visas all about anyway? Marriage...which is suppose to be about love, and family and good nature...well I'm here to tell you, the ones that make decisions as to whether an illness is humanitarian or not, is reckless. I am sick...and I am pissed. The Constitution is not suppose to be different on account of someone's motivations. It is suppose to be a document of rules to follow...not for interpretation. We still have till May 2nd to get married,, but with the consulate in Delhi closed, we can't get an appointment to even explain our case in person. All we are told is to go to this site and read the rules. In my hopes and prayers these days, in addition to prayers for all those afflicted with this deadly virus, I pray that there really is karma...cuz I know a few who have a lot coming there way...and it may not be so hot in the long run!

Just a quick update...we are staying strong and it has really been sad and discouraging. Seems the State Department doesn't believe this was a humanitarian issue and at the same time we werer caught behind closed borders and ceased International flights, so we are still apart. After thousands of dollars and 9 months of working very hard and an "approval", Trump's Administration is now saying we have to start over from the beginning "just because". Legal challenge is prohibitive at this point. So we are weighing are few options and may wait till after November 3 when this whole, demented Administration is swept out of office and calmer, clearer heads are in charge. I wish everyone we have followed and all the other couple my very best and above all happiness...Chip

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
