Comments : Regarding the interview, Roxy was told that she passed the interview, but that she needed to mail her passport back to the Embassy along with her mother and father's marriage certificate, and that once received by the Embassy, she should get her Visa within a week. That was February 4th, 2020. She sent her passport and the required marriage certificate on February 10th.

In early March, when Roxy still didn't receive her passport and visa, I called the Embassy. I was told that I would receive a response in a day or two. A few days later the Embassy responded by e-mail, saying that they are still completing administrative processing in order to verify her qualifications for the visa. She was told at the interview that she was approved already, but that she needed to send in her passport and the required marriage certificate. I don't know how difficult that could be, even with a large volume of mail that they probably receive every day.

As of today, March 30th, we still have not received a response. And now, with the Wuhan virus affecting normal operations at the Embassy, I'm not sure how much longer the process will take.

Event Description

Embassy Review : UPDATE: As of September 26, 2020, we are still in a holding pattern. The consular officer told my fiancee at her February 4th interview that all they needed was a copy of her mother and father's marriage certificate and passport, and that she should receive them back in about a week from receipt at the Embassy. We never did hear anything back. Then the Covid shutdown came in the middle of March. Finally on July 2nd, came back a simple denial of the visa, with no explanation. We were both a little stunned because there's nothing in either of our backgrounds to justify this response. No health issues. No criminal background. No additional marriages, etc.

I learned that the Embassy kicks all paperwork back to one of the service centers for a final review, and that the service center can either confirm the embassy's decision or overturn their refusal, and approve my fiancee. How long does that take? The embassy's refusal came on July 2, 2020 and today is September 26, 2020. It's been almost 3 months, and we haven't heard anything. We first applied for the K1 visa on July 1, 2019, so this whole process has taken 15 months so far. I understand the virus has slowed down progress, but how long does it take to review the case and approve or deny? I wish I knew how much longer this is supposed to take.
Rating : Very Poor

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
