Embassy Review : Long post alert!
Overall stressful experience. I knew the wait was going to be long, but I still managed to grossly underestimate the strain involved.
Arrived at the embassy at 5:30am in time for my 7am appointment. We were divided into immigrant and non-immigrant queues and had to go through possibly a million security checks, which ended with a Nigerian lady taking our finger prints. Then commenced the wait. Look around when you arrive. If there are lots of elderly people around, then bad news for you because they’ll attend to them first irrespective of when they arrived. This is reasonable, but can’t deny that it’s tiring standing for so long. For the interview proper, there were 2 CO’s initially - a black American male and a Caucasian male. The black dude seemed more brutal cos he denied 2 of the first 4 interviewees he encountered. Crazy. Once I’d waited for so long, and my number still seemed far away, I went to the bathroom to wait and break from the monotony of seeing people being denied or approved. Soon, I heard my number being called from inside the bathroom, then my name. I ran out. Alas there was a new CO who presumably just joined. She was a pretty youngish looking African American. She made me swear the oath and asked about 4 questions.
Who’s calling for you?
How y’all met
What job does she do?
Finally she asked for pics of us
That was it. She approved and said the visa would be ready in a week thereabouts.

Advice-
1. prepare to be stressed except you’re lucky to be one of the first few to interview
2. practice the common questions and answers well. Don’t mind the people who say it’s a walk in the park. Prepare! You’ve been waiting for this for long.
3. Concision is key. Don’t elaborate on answers needlessly. It’ll invite more answers and scrutiny
4. Have a snack before the interview
5. Pray!
Rating : Moderate

Hello guys. My interview date is the 21st. I still haven't received Packets 3 & 4.. Also, besides the DS 160 is there any other documents I need from my fiance? Do I need to get the original copy of the evidence of support? Or can it be scanned
blank avatar Tidy on 2019-06-11 said:
Mail the embassy for packet 3 if you haven’t. Besides the DS-160, you’d need their tax transcripts and I-134, plus pay stubs and w2 if you can get them. A scanned copy of I-134 is fine

Thank you everyone! And Congrats Oni. So glad things turned out the way they did. How about our CR1 friend? Hope he got his? Plus what’s next? I’m told that I have to create a profile on traveldocs for tracking my visa. But I already created a profile then when booking for an interview date. Do I need another? TIA
blank avatar ED&Oni on 2019-06-14 said:
No. There’s a link where you just put your passport number and it’ll tell you if your passport is ready. I’ll send it to you. Our CR1 friend, i didn’t see him again. I pray he gets it.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
