Consulate Review: Ghana
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : October 31, 2019
Embassy Review : My fiance interview was scheduled for 7:30am. He arrived at 6am. He was the second person in line. The front desk secretary collected the Interview confirmation. He waited a little while inside then was called to the counter to submit passport, DS160, embassy fee reciept, proof of relationship, pollce clearance, and medical. The person then asked questions: What is the fiance name? Where does the fiance live? Where do you live? He went back to wait for the next consular to interview him. He then was called in for the interview. Questions were:
Who is calling for you?
Has she been married?
How many times?
Does she have kids?
What are their names?
Have you been married?
What are you doing in Ghana?
What will you do once you get to the USA?
How did you get engaged?
Was there an engagement party?
What does your fiance do for a living?
How many times did your fiance visit you? what are the dates?

The consular then said he was approved but needed to submit the correct birth certificate that Nigeria issues. Nigeria has been changing their birth certificate alot lately so we have to get the newest one.Even though we had the proof of birth and attestation of birth from the NPC with court stamp.

Did you have to wait till the consular received the package from NVC before scheduling interview or once you got your case number were you able to pay fees, fill out ds-160 and schedule interview? We paid fees and filled out and submitted ds-160 but it says there aren’t any interview dates and I’m wondering if it’s because they haven’t received the petition package from NVC. What was your experience?
blank avatar Tish_Ghana on 2019-08-18 said:
Hi, so it went in this order....1. NOA2, 2.NVC received. 3. I called NVC to get the account number and invoice number. 4. I was then able to check the status of my case on CEAS website. 5.NVC sent case to Ghana Embassy, Ghana Embassy received it. 6. I did the DS-160 online. 7. Fiance took the DS-160 form to the Bank to pay the fee 8. We then scheduled the interview online, the receipt from the Embassy bank fee was need to schedule the interview. What does CEAS website say regarding your case? It should say "READY".
blank avatar S&E 2020 on 2019-08-18 said:
CEAC says it’s still at NVC so they haven’t mailed it to Ghana embassy yet. We got case number. He paid visa fee and filled out DS-160. I’m guessing he can’t schedule interview till the Ghana embassy receives the case. I had heard from some you can go ahead once you get the case number but have heard you have to wait till Ghana embassy receives it too.
blank avatar Tish_Ghana on 2019-08-18 said:
NVC does mailing every 14 days. So the last one was August 6th. So the next one will be August 20th. And Ghana will receive it by August 22nd or 23rd. And yes you do need to wait for the Embassy in Ghana to receive it.

Hello Tish I got my NVC letter on the 20th of August, and I have gone to pay for my visa fee already, I tried booking my interview date online it says no interview dates available. Am still waiting to hear from the embassy in Accra, Ghana for my interview date to be scheduled. You just replied that the Last mailed NVC letter was on the 20th of August and the Embassy will receive on the 22th or 23th. Does that mean I will be getting my letter soon from the embassy? Please will really appreciate if you reply. M3das3!

Which site are you using to try to schedule your interview ? Once you have filled out the DS160 and paid the fee you should be able to book your interview. My fiancé was using the wrong site to try to book and it kept saying no available appointments but then he went to this site and was able to book his interview. https://www.ustraveldocs.com/gh/gh-niv-appointmentschedule.asp

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
