Comments : Interview was originally scheduled Jan 20, but was rescheduled due to the Biden inauguration. It was promptly rescheduled for mid-February. However, after arriving and waiting 45 minutes on that day we got told that they didn’t have our file. So it was canceled once again.

We finally got rescheduled after submitting a service request. This time the appointment went smoothly. We waited maybe 15 minutes to be called back and the interview was simple. We provided documentation of a bona fide marriage and answered a few questions about how we met and the relationship. The officer approved it and by the time we got home, the status had changed to New Card Being produced so it should arrived soon

Consulate Review: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : September 3, 2019
Embassy Review : The day of the interview was pretty straight forward and well organized. We had a 7:40 interview but arrived just before 7. The consulate opens at 7 and there was a line with about 10 people already when we arrived. Everybody goes through security and then upstairs to the area for immigrant visas.

Then there are 3 steps once you arrive upstairs. First, there is a basic form to fill out and a checklist of documents to separate. You then take the documents and the form to somebody who performs a brief check and directs you to a line. Second, you will be called to a window where somebody will perform a more thorough check to make sure you have all the documents. Finally, you will be called to the interview. By this point, the officer has already reviewed your case and asks a few questions either in English or Portuguese. She asked us 5 or 6 simple questions like how did you meet, when did you start dating, where will you live, when are you planning to get married. The interview took about 5 minutes and was approved!

The process took about 1.5 hours and was overall a good experience.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
