Embassy Review : My Visa experience with my Fiance was a fairly easy one. No surprise questions or rude behaviour. The best and most shocking part was that i was able to be with my fiance the whole time so if you get a chance to go with your fiance for this interview i highly suggest it as it was a great comfort for us.

Hey, I was wondering when you had our visa interview did you have to schedule your own interview date and time or did they call you and set one up? My fiance and I are having problems finding out what to do. we have finally filled out the DS160 and gotten all the necessary documents she will need for the interview. But the probelms is that the embassy had called one of her friends looking for my fiance. Her friend told them that it was not my fiances number but then the person who had called from the embassy gave the friend a number for my fiance to call back. That day my fiance tried calling the number but it was a number that didnt exist. Ever since that day she has tried calling the embassy to get an answer and find out some more information. She has had no luck and always gets a rude person that either hangs up the phone or tells her that they are closed except for yesterday. Yesterday she had gotten someone to finally answer, but they had told her to call one of three numbers to get answers about her questions. Those three numbers she has already tried many times and has gotten no answer or just people that hang up on her. So anyways I was just wonder if we have to schedule the interview or if the embassy does that for you and also if the embassy sends you a packet in the mail or is it by phone or email???? Please help...we would like to try and schedule the interview for the 11th of March if that is possible. The sooner the better would be the best. Thank you so much

Hello Spander, Yeah i should have added that to my review of the embassy, scheduling the interview was very confusing for us to. To answer your question simply, you must schedule the interview with the embassy yourself. You should be able to do this basically as soon as you get your number from NVC and can fill out the DS160. I of course did not actually see my fiance schedule his interview but i do remember him waiting and waiting for this e-mail from the embassy. However that e-mail contained no really useful information and i believer he could have scheduled his interview as soon as he filled out his ds160. But you are right to be confused as i read many times that the embassy schedules the interview but some sites (even government sites) confuse the fiance visa with a marriage visa. For a marriage visa the interview is scheduled by the embassy. The number for the embassy should be 504 2236-9320 and they also have a number you can call from the US to ask questions and that number should be 703) 745-5478. When i called the embassy they were always super nice and helpful. I'd say as long as you complete your medical appointment you should be able to do March 11th or earlier. My fiance got his medical appointment scheduled and completed i think it one week.

Congratulations on your approval! I just had a question for you in how you scheduled your appointment. I know that you commented above on this but I just wanted to clarify. Did your fiance call the embassy itself and schedule or did he schedule online? Our case reads "READY" on the ceac website, and i am trying to schedule the appointment on the ustraveldocs website but it says there is no appointments available. I called the 7037455478 number and they told me that they have the same access to the interview scheduling as we do through the ustraveldocs website, so that was no help. Do you suggest that he just calls the embassy to see if they can help him? Thanks in advance for your reply :)

Hi Alivia, my fiance and I are in the same boat. We have been trying to schedule our appointment since last week. What happened with mine is that we were blocked from our account last week on Thursday because we logged in too many times which we weren't aware it would freeze our account. At that time it said there was an appointment available the 10th but we weren't able to schedule because our recipe number wasn't activated yet until the next day. But by then our account was frozen the previous day. This Monday my fiance called the embassy and they said there were no available appointments yet and to log on no more than 3 times per day to check to see if there are appointment times. So we have been doing that but as you have noticed there are no available appointments. This is so frustrating. I personally call the embassy yesterday and they too gave me the same answer as they did you and my fiance. I don't think there is anything we can do except wait for a stupid appointment. What I don't understand is how they don't know if there are available appointments for months at a time. What they should do is list at least 3 months of time and the available appointment times you can schedule for. This whole process is so frustrating. I hope both of us can get our appointments soon.

I'm the third one on the same boat 😔 I've been trying to schedule our appointment since this past monday March 2nd. The first time when I tried there was one appointment available for March 4th but we weren't ready for an appointment just 2 days in the future, besides that, they recommend to do the medical examination 2 weeks prior to the interview, and to schedule the medical you must have an appointment schedule 🤦‍♀️

Sounds like a catch 22 to me. Well I'm thinking this next week there should be appointments available, that's what I'm hoping. I will be going down to Honduras on the 8th so hopefully there will be an appointment soon. I don't want to be down there for too long.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
