I'm in a very similar situation. On Feb, 25th I've got the documentation approved notification. I would like to know how long it took for you to get the interview scheduled. Also, how many days before the interview you've got this schedule notification. Thanks in advance!

Hi guys! Were you able to get in before they closed the consulates?

Unfortunately not. I was 3 weeks away from the interview when they cancelled. Who knows when they will come back. We are so upset as I'm stranded in Brazil and my spouse in the US! It's over one year like that already! And now we don't know how much more! I understand it's not the Consulate's fault but they should at least allow us to wait in the US. I work remotely and I could stay in the US but working there as my job is in Brazil!

Just saw you update. How did you get the new schedule?

I was 3 days away from the interview when they cancelled. We are now together in US, my spouse came as a tourist, we were afraid they shut down the borders. I've rescheduled the interview myself through the consulate website.

Last time I went to the US, the officer told me I could not come back before the end of the process. That's why we are now apart. I have a question, did they tell you to reschedule through the CASV website? I thought they would contact us to reschedule. Thank you in advance.

About being apart, my spouse has been in US with me basically the whole process. She was in Brazil just for the interview (medical, biometric and all those stuff) and since it's all canceled, she's back now. She can be here for 6 mo as tourist and it doesn't affect at all the immigrant visa process. And they didn't contact me. I was just curious about their calendar, logged in and tried to "reschedule my appointment". There were available dates from June there. Try checking your account, maybe you can reschedule yours as well.

Thank you for your suggestion. I'll try then. I was doing the same for some time, but eventually I've got this officer with his interpretation of the rules. He most likely added some comment into their system to make my life harder. I don't want take chances. I don't really understand why we cannot just stay there, I'm not interested in finding a job in the US. I have a remote work. I've been working like that for the last 3 years! This situation is ridiculous. Sorry, but I needed to vent!

Hello, did you end up having your interview?
blank avatar Sjmoreno on 2020-11-13 said:
Nothing! Appointments now available only for June 2021. Unbelievable!
blank avatar ACJ on 2020-11-13 said:
My understanding is that the CR1/IR1 visas are scheduled but the consulate (just like the first interview scheduled). The consulate is still closed and I don't expect any change before January 20th! Sjmoreno, did you have the interview scheduled and then cancelled because of the pandemic?
blank avatar ACJ on 2020-11-13 said:
My interview was cancelled and I never get another appointment. We called the consulate and the embassy in Brazil and NOBODY knows when they are planning to reopen.
blank avatar Sjmoreno on 2020-11-13 said:
Same boat here. My first interview was cancelled due the pandemic, but I was able to reschedule through the website a couple of times.. they always cancel 30 days before. I've called them a thousand of times too - NVC and USCIS as well - and nobody has any information. On top of that, only nasty and lazy email replies.

My suggestion is:it doesn't matter if you vote for Biden or not, now it's the time for you to help Georgia to elect democratic senators. They will change this crappy immigration mess created by the current administration!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
