Event Description

Embassy Review : I had really wanted to be at the interview but could not be there as I could not get time off work. We took a lot of time however to make sure that we had everything in order. On the day of the interview I am sure that I was more nervous than Claudia.

One of the things that we did a just after we got the NOA2 was to prepare the I-134 form. We downloaded this form from the internet, I completed it and sent it to Claudia. When packet 4 arrived it had a similar form but on careful examination we noticed that it expired on 10/31/83. Yes you did read that correctly J We thought that we better complete this form as well which I did but with the earthquake and slow mail to Peru it did not arrive in time. At least we had the 2007 edition.. We hoped it would work.

Claudia arrived 45 mins early for her interview and was ushered in to the embassy where she waited for 15 mins before being called to the window. She was asked for her passport, Ds-156 and DS-156K forms. She then waited another 30 mins before being called up again where she was asked questions such as how we met, had we met in person etc.and she was asked for the I-134 form which she gave to them and they took our 2007 edition no problem. She then sat down for around 45 mins before being called into the dreaded Room #15 where a lady interviewed her. At first the interview was in Spanish but then after discovering that Claudia had lived in the USA for 4 years changed to English. The interview lasted about 25 mins and Claudia was asked to explain quite a number of things in detail, such as how we met, the history of my life, where we had been when we had visited each others countries and such like. The lady then gave Claudia a pink slip and told her to go to the DHL counter. Claudia had to ask her if she had been successful, to which the reply was “as long as we don’t find out that you have committed a crime”. It was all a bit anti climactic. To cap it all Claudia realized that the lady had not asked for any of the pictures, email and yahoo conversation that we had spent hours compiling.

All in all it took 2.5 hours.

POE Review: Atlanta
Event Description
Entry Date : 2007-10-19
Embassy Review : There were zero problems for Claudia getting through immigration and customs in Atlanta. She entered the country with her mother who was allowed to accompany her to the extremely short interview, which took place after a 10 minute wait.

All in all a very good and anticlimactic experience given the stresses of getting the visa.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
