Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : May 13, 2007
Embassy Review : Despite the challenges in getting to the Consulate interview, once Jonathon arrived there, things were a breeze. He zoomed through security with his clear folder, his x-ray, and his letter --thanks to all of your posts about the rules of security. He was then sent into a holding area downstairs by the elevators until he went up to the cashier area. He was given a ticket and told to wait to be called up to submit his documentation and pay the fee.

He was called into a room about 10 minutes later and spoke with a really nice gentleman for about 7 minutes. Yes, 7. Jon said he asked nothing about how we met or the like, but asked him about his potential job. He then assured Jon that he could get the temporary work authorization at Pearson -- which unfortunately is not the case.

All in all, it was an easy hour and a half after a tremendously stressful waiting period.

That was it. He congratulated Jon and sent him on his way. Interestingly, the guy was from Berkeley -- about an hour away from me and he recommended some bookstores and restaurants :-) and Jon was on the phone at 6:15 California time to give me the new!
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
