Consulate Review: Madrid, Spain

Event Description

Embassy Review : My husband went for his interview at the embassy in Madrid this past Wednesday. He had taken his phone for navigation and turned it in at the door and received a ticket. He said he waited about an hour to be called and turned in his documents to a woman- including our marriage certificate, his police certificate from Spain and his birth certificate and translations. He waited about a half hour to be called back by a man to do the interview with. The man asked how we met but then continually asked my husband about his field of education and his masters. He was in the interview for at least a half hour- he said the man kept circling back to questions about his masters, education and work experience. My husband wanted to show the photos and other documents about our relationship and about the hardship of us being apart but the man did not look at any of our other evidence. My husband could not tell if the man was very confused or if he was trying to trick my husband with some of the questions he asked. At one point the man got up and went out to ask someone else a question. He also said the man spent most of his time typing notes. He told my husband he is refused because of the travel ban and gave him some forms to complete and information to email (the documents were marked incorrectly as a non-immigrant visa). My husband said they were polite but felt they were disorganized. Now we go into administrative processing and wait for this nightmare to be over.

that's nice. did you do anything or take any steps to resolve the administrative processing from your end? Did you file writ of Mandamus?

At least once a month I emailed the embassy to check in and to give any updates on our end. We did not do a writ. I did some interviews with newspaper to as get attention for our case.
