The NVC forwarded our packet to US Embassy in South Africa today!

Instead of Ghana? What?!
Gigi & Gabe on 2019-03-20 said:
I contacted the NVC, and the Embassy in South Africa to see if they would transfer it to Ghana. My fiancé has been living in South Africa for past 4 years so I think that’s why they sent it there. He was upset about it but, I thought it might improve his chances for being approved. We’ll see what happens next. God is in control

My fiancé is in South Africa. We didn’t hear anything from consulate about forwarding our petition to Ghana but they sent us an email telling us to schedule interview in South Africa. Our interview is May 16.

So we scheduled the physical and interview in Johannesburg. Then the consulate in Johannesburg contacts me by email saying they transfer our case to Ghana. 😞. Now I guess I have to wait for the consulate in Ghana to contact us to schedule an interview there. I already paid for interview in Johannesburg, what do I do now.

Hello all
So the Embassy in Ghana finally notified me to schedule our interview. I had to pay the fee again and then there were no dates available. We waited a week and the first available appointment was August 13 @ 7:30AM. So that’s our interview date. I have faith that God’s favor will shine on us and we will be approved. I’ve heard some horror stories about Ghana but I’m trusting and believing all will go well.

The initial interview that your fiance was going to have in South Africa, did they ask him for paper work to prove his work permit in South Africa?

His work permit is in his passport. They didn’t ask for paperwork to support the permit

Hi dear sorry about the denial but am glad you've got a positive attitude towards it all. Please did they tell you the reason for the denial?

Forgive me for this late post. Our petition was no longer valid. It expired on June 7, 2019. I didn't re-validate it.

Received RFE on 5/15/20. It was dated April 29, 2020. The request was for my Marriage Certificate which I included. I sent a 8x11 copy and the license is 11 x 14. For the RFE I sent notarized original copy.

Hello everyone
Let me update you on my situation. I found out Gabriel has a wife in South Africa. He married her on July 12, 2014. He didn’t divorce her. He married me on September 27 2019. I am in the process of getting a divorce

So sorry about this unfortunate situation, Gigi! May the Lord give you the strength & peace you need to maneuver through this!
*if you're up to it - how did you find out?
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
** Not all cases are transfered
