Consulate Review: Amman, Jordan

Event Description

Embassy Review : The interview process was very easy and smooth and the consular officer was very nice and easy to talk to. She asked me how did I meet my husband. when did we get married, which city do I live in in Syria. Where will I live in the USA. Do we have children. Was me or my husband married before. And I think that was it. Then she told me that because I am Syrian I am banned to enter the USA because of the travel ban. But I am eligible for a waiver. Therefore show will apply for a waiver on my behalf. And then I went to the next window and they told me to come back after 3 buisness days. But I was watching my case status online and my visa was issued the next buisness day and I picked it up. Now I am in the USA.

Hello there. I got my visa and I am at the USA now. The interview was very quick and easy. Entering Jordan was smooth we just followed the instructions in the email. We booked a return ticket on Royal Jordanian from Beirut. But keep in mind in order for you to enter Lebanon (if you don't have a بطاقة نقابية) you will need a hotel booking and to show 2000$ at the borders. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask me. Oh and I did my interview at the embassy on a Thursday Feb 27. They told me to come back Tuesday Mar 3. But I kept looking in my online visa status and my visa was printed and issued on Sunday Mar 1. and it was available for pickup. Other people who interviewed with me got their visas either Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday. So keep looking at the online status.

Oh and the consular officer told me at the interview that there is a travel ban on Syrians but I am eligible for a waiver and that she will apply for a waiver on my behalf. They said this to all the Syrians. And my visa status was AP from Thursday to Sunday so don't freak out if they said this. She handed me a blue piece of paper that says they are studying my case for a waiver. And some other people got different case updates before issued like ready and refused. It is all fine because they all recieved their visas at the end.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
