Consulate Review: Belgrade, Yugoslavia
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : July 21, 2020
Embassy Review : We arrived at 7:55 for an 8:30 interview. The guard allowed us to sit outside on the benches until they were ready to do the initial security screen. We only had a backpack with our documents and our IDs, so this went easily. We were the only ones on the list for the day. We passed through secondary security, then walked back and were given a number, even though we were the only ones there...we sat for nearly 30 minutes until the preliminary documents were asked for at the side window, and then another 5 minutes until Milan's fingerprints were taken. Then we were both called up to the center window for the interview. The consular officer was kind, and the interview lasted no more than 15 minutes. She asked how and when we met, how often we'd seen each other, what I did for work, what his profession was, where I went to church, what his relationship with my children was, how our wedding was...? She didn't even want to see any other proofs of relationship, or more financials. We started getting nervous about halfway through, but she finally smiled, and said I'm going to approve the visa for you. We could not stop the tears of joy. Unfortunately, the medical documents had not yet been transferred over, so issuing the visa may take an extra day, but that is a minor issue, and we are so ready to go home to Michigan and our children. Blessings and prayers for all those who are yet waiting for their Serbian loved ones.

Hi Helen and Milan! I am excitedly following your timeline because ours is similar. I hope your interview will be soon! Is there a packet 3 and 4 requirement for the Belgrade consulate? Thanks, Bojana

Zdravo! We have completed the 160 and medical. The application is READY on the CEAC website, so we are eagerly awaiting the packet 3, which should be coming soon. Mili emailed the embassy, but they haven't processed it yet. Hope your process goes smoothly. Helena

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
