Consulate Review: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 5, 2018
Embassy Review : My fiancee and I both attended the interview together. Our interview was scheduled for 9:40 AM. We arrived at the consulate at 9:00 AM and dropped off our electronic devices at one of the locking vendors directly in front of the consulate. We paid R$10 per device for this service (about $2.50 USD at the time of this writing). We went to the front of the consulate where a worker checked my fiancee's passport and DS-160 to ensure we had an appointment. We walked inside, went through security which took less than five minutes. Once inside, we were directed to go upstairs to the Immigrant Visa waiting room. We were instructed to put together certain documents and about 15 minutes later, were called up to a window where an officer reviewed our documents and made sure everything was in order. Everyone was very nice to us and even let my fiancee go back downstairs to retrieve a paper that had become lodged inside the x-ray machine at security.

We then waited for our interview for about 45 minutes when our name was called. We both went up to the interview window where a nice officer asked us a few simple questions:
1. How we met
2. When we met
3. Wedding plans

The interviewer lady was very nice and after about 3-5 minutes, stated our K-1 visa was approved and expect to receive it within 2 weeks. Everything went smoothly.

In total we spent about 1.5 hours at the consulate.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
